Congratulations to Monahans Loboes on a job well done. I have to say however that these Monahans Coaches are GLORY HOGS!! Players on the sidelines who have remained dedicated did not have an opportunity to play regardless of the lead during the game. What is wrong with this picture?? ALL kids deserve some playing time...so let's recognize those who were NOT given the opportunity to play BUT remain dedicated to the team.

You're going to hear it two ways. One from parents that want to win. "Play the good players! We want to win!" and "Play all the team, it's only fair. They work just as hard as the rest". That is just not Monahans. That's everywhere that has a team sport. Unless the coach is putting the child in danger or humiliating the child. Let the coaches do their job. As parents we all want to take up for our children. But we also need to know when to step back and let them speak for themselves.

I can assure you, they don't all "practice just the same."
I would say "they're undefeated, you're not the coach, so shh," but that didn't help Windy Williams much...s

What you say is true voice of reason....but WHY not let second and third string play when you have a HUGE lead and give those lads some experience. Or, is it because there were scouts in town.....

Ur_an_idiot....you are an idiot! Around here if you're not a member of the First Baptist Church and not sitting in the first pew on Sunday morning or if Mommy & Daddy don't donate time and money to the Booster Club then the sidelines it is for you. But that's ok because all those made to "look like stars" here are warming the bench in college football because they're not as great as our Coaches here made them out to be. I guess Karma really is a B!

Most 3A kids don't play in college...and those who do are much more likely to be on the bench. Not sure how karma applies when these kids are (a) the best on their HS team and (b) not the best on their college team. Whatever makes you feel better, I guess...

I guess Karma really is a B! I don't know what Monahans you're talking about. But it's not Monahans Texas. Yes, like all small towns, it has it's small town politics. But I would rather concentrate on what is more important for my child. EDUCATION! I would rather know that a teacher is qualified to teach the position they are hired to do. Most of our children will NOT go to college playing football and there is great danger in this sport. I'd rather have my child in one piece, than risk his life for 15 seconds of hometown fame. I know there can be SOME arsehole coaches. Those coaches are just ticked off because they can't do what they love so they teach it. And those are the ones that sometimes try to bully our children. That's when a parent steps in.

It just amazes me that some people now think they could coach better then the coaches have done. If ur child sucks then they done deserve to play sorry but the truth hurts. I don't care if the score is 56-0 we need to leave our starters in the game. The reason is our goal is to win state and our starters haven't played a full game and this may hurt us later on in the playoffs. If ur child was on 2nd or 3rd string then I am sorry maybe they should of worked harder in practice or showed up earlier to hit more weights. Don't blame the coaches for ya'll not getting ya'll way. Coach Owens job is to win games and that what he has done.

I agree with the boys practicing as hard as the ones that the coaches do play why cant they play them....it upsets me when my son comes to me and wants to quit cause of them coaches...i believe the kids deserve the right to play regardless who they are or their background...some of them coaches look at that...but up the asses when these boys grow up and run over them with the same plays they were taught...lol...

The fact is Monahans will never change. My son is in jr high and I always tell him that he has to be 2x better than the teachers son and 3x better than a coaches son. Whether the coach is still coaching or not. My son is a very good athlete and I encourage him every game and tell him how good he is but the fact remains the same, he is not a coaches son or "somebody importants" son. I don't agree at all but sports has forced my son to care more about his education. My son could care less about his grades but now that's all he worries about. No pass no play. Alot of these students would have nothing without their "sports". They would turn to bad habits or bad deeds. I dont mind going to a game and watching my son play or not. He is part of that team no matter what! If it keeps him out of trouble and keeps him focused on school, it works for me. Lobo fan and parent

This not only happens in football, it is every sport. Money has a funny way of turning up in every thing our children do. Mine tries just as hard and never misses a pratice, but guess what, she doesn't get as much play time as a teachers child or someones who has pull. I always try to reasure her she is just as good as anyone else but sometimes it is hard. Things will never change, not only in LOBO LAND, but anywhere else.

Hey avaya and loboes use a little common sense! No one is saying go out there make these kids the starting line. Simply let them play in games like the ones against Pecos, Fort Stockton, Lamesa, and Greenwood where you have a 42-0 lead in the third and fourth quarter. You're a moron if you think that will somehow "hurt us in the playoffs". You will only be giving these guys a little experience. What happens if some fail this six weeks or if any are injured? Who do you turn to then? Avaya its only obvious that you were neither a scholar nor an athlete.

And yeah the Coach is doing his job and running over a bunch of dedicated young men on his way to the State Championship. He doesn't deserve to have them on his team.
