My son left Tuesday for his 1st deployment to Iraq. How easy is it to stay in touch with him? Are you able to use Skype? What is a good resourse for finding military information. We are new to this and have lots of questions. Any help would be appreciated!

My fiance just deployed for the 3rd time. He said he usually can call about two days after leaving. However, for some reason it hasn't worked out that way. They usually stop in Kuwait first and then head to Iraq (if that is where he is going). Hopefully you will be able to make a schedule to keep in touch. Anyhow good luck!

My husband just deployed for the 3rd time as well with 3rd Brigade. Skype is a possibility depending on whether he has a laptop and internet where he is going keep in mind the time difference though as well. He will be able to call when he has down time and a battle buddy willing to drag their but half across the FOB to stand in line at the pay phones. A good way my husband and I found to keep in touch is via Yahoo Messenger it's free and you can see eachother by camera too if he has one and you as well. But rest assured if you need any information you can always tell him to sign you up for the vFRG online so that you can get in conctact with the FRG based out of here to help families and spouses. Hope this helps stay strong they will be back before too long.

My hubby has been to Iraq 3 times and is currently in Afghanistan. This is by far the hardest one of all as far as commuication goes. Iraq communication was only tough the first time. If you keep busy and email him whenever you think of something you can do that too. Also, in Iraq the magic jacks work wth their computers they get a local number and just plug a reg phone into their computers and can call easy as pie.

Actually, you'll have to say much more...There ISN'T a 52nd Infantry in 3/2 SBCT...

How would I know? It was my LAST unit before I retired, and MY son is in it now.

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Scorpio

Your thoughts turn to the past today, putting you in a nostalgic mood. You're awash with sentimental tears as you dwell on days gone by or gaze at photos of people you'll never see again. However, try not to let this mood of reminiscence turn into a tendency to feel sorry for yourself and therefore to demand special treatment from others.
