Wash. Senate Republicans try to take over Dem budget

OLYMPIA, Wash. - In a procedural move that hasn't been seen since the 1980s, Senate Republicans, who are in the minority, seized control of the Senate floor Friday night and pushed a vote on their proposed budget, outraging Democrats.

Geez, it's about time for someone to react. The Democrats have control of both houses and have failed to put forth a budget. The Republicans step up, put forth a plan and get bipartisian support. Yet, our governor complains about the Republicans tactics...what tactics are those madam governor...bipartisianship or the fact that a budget was actually approved during the normal session?

Someone must like the current stagnent government we have in Washington state. Continuous extra sessions, year after year, only to come up with a budget that only puts a band-aid on the problem. Our local state leaders are only concerned about one thing, per diem and extra pay for their continued inability to solve a critical problem during the normal session.

Now it is eight days since the aggressive maneuver occurred in Olympia,which summarily advanced a
budget, offered by Senator Zarelli, under the illusion that it is ok for Republicans, with a little help from a few Democratic friends, to act as if the Republicans a. are the majority, b. can do whatever they want, c. can offer a BUDGET NOT
BEFORE SEEN OR UNDERSTOOD IN ITS LINE ITEMS AND CONSEQUENCES. Functional (as opposed to dysfunctional govt) demands better; and in context
it is via electing Jay Inslee governor that the finances, and budgets,and constructive consequences
will be stabilized in the State of Washington.

Where are the Democrats? We have had budget problems for the past three years. Only the Republicans have passed a budget during normal session. Progressive Gov. Gregiore and her Democrats in the legislature have failed. There is nothing wrong with someone else or another party trying to get the job done when the Democrats demand more per diem with another special session.
