If this budget isn't reduced/cut then our board is not doing it's job. Clearly the spending has to be reduced.

The school board should cut the school budget by 95%. They've got no business taking my tax money to educate somebody else's kids - this is MY money, MINE! You can't have ANY of it for ANYTHING! This is the nanny state run amok.

are there any gays or lesbians going to the schools or working there? if so, they should be given their own seperate but equal schools. there's no reason normal kids should be forced to go to school with gays. not that I have anything against gays.

and where in the CONSTITUTION does it say anything about SCHOOLS? the federal govt. has no business ruling our lives in this way. just because of that i'm seceding from the USA and Vermont and forming my own country!

Well played!

It took me a second to figure out that it wasn't really Eric posting. Next time, use more spelling mistakes and fewer complete sentences.

estanson,

Outstanding post! You really had me tricked!(until the last)

On a more serious note regarding school funding(any district),I can guarantee you there remains serious amounts of fat in this budget in the administrative/staff side.

The Board should reject this out of hand and ask them for three plans oF reduction:

5%
10%
15%

Any one of these could be implented without the quality of education dimminishing.
Of course some people would have to work a lot harder and the unions would have a nervous breakdown or throw tantrums.Taxpayers would be happy though.

If they cut the budget we're hitting the bricks.

Eventually it's going to come to a confrontation between the union and the school district. The community has to be prepared to endure a strike without backing down. Property taxes have a breaking point. That may mean a lot of home schooling for a while.

People who are lucky to be keeping their jobs are not in a position to demand raises. There will need to be concessions on health & retirement benefits too. No single profession can be insulated against what is happening across the whole economy.

Yeah, God forbid we should put any money into the education of our future citizens.

So are you syaing that you feel that even though a high percentage of the coutnry and county, and school district are taking no raises this year, that you still deserve a raise? If that is the case then you have a right to feel that way. I also have a right to feel that teachers should have to endure the economic situation just like every other citizen.

You mean ALL our money? You think you can endlessly reach into people's pockets to fund your raises and your gold-plated health & retirement benefits? How is it that so many private schools yield better results without the bloated payrolls?
how about this

Burger King and Dunkin' Donuts is more accurate. Clearly, Agriculture and factory work is non existent in this area.
