Congratulations to both Brian Dubie & Peter Shumlin for a race well run. Thank you Brian for conceding and allowing this to move forward, you earned a great deal of respect.
It is now time for Vermonters to move forward & work together to prepare for the successful future ahead of us.

Wait till the smile wears off and keep looking behind you. Now that the dust has settled he now realize that it is "daunting task". When Pete gets up in the morning he gets up on the right side of the bed. Who's bed does it matter. To us only. Hear hear this ones for you and that one over there too. That Gov security detail V S P will be a task. Can he stay or sway on Main st U S A

Governor Shumlin will have a tough task to balance the budget, encourage business, and begin the years-long task of planning single-payer health insurance. We hope he does a good job, so that we can support him again in 2012.

And never mind the sour-grapes griping of bitter arm chair tea-baggers, just go forward and get the work started.

You mean the guy who pushed through the budget last year that Douglas vetoed because it was too much? Or the guy who wants to throw out ~1300 jobs by closing VY, which will in turn close IBM? The guy who wants to institute a health care plan that will be illegal in a couple of years? Or the guy who has already tripled school taxes over the past five years? The guy who said Germany gets 30% of its power from solar? The guy who said VY's tritium leak was the worst enviromental disaster in VT's history, never mind the asbestoes mine in central VT? The guy who cheats on his wife? The guy who was opposed to the new transnission line that tied the north to the south, which created millions of dollars for his county?

Well then, good luck with Pinocchio!

Sounds like conservative-like actions, NCW. Can he morph? As with Obama, now he has to govern and not campaign, two different tasks.

I want to honestly say good luck to Peter. He has to now look after what is best for the entire state and not just his special interest groups. He must put his own agenda aside and provide the majority and not the minority with what is in their best interest. It is your "pocketbook" now Peter. Good luck to ya'.

When will the Reformer front Mr. Shumlin with the fact that he is a bigot who refuses to follow ADA guidelines? People in Wheelchairs are citizens but Mr.Shumlin goes the extra mile to keep them shutin and out of the community. The Reformer closes its eyes to this community's lack of access why??

It is poetic justice that Shumlin is the one who is going to have to tackle the mess we have here in Vermont. Declining revenues and increasing deficits coupled with a tax rate that is already too high. When you raise taxes in good times like the democrats and Shumlin have then you have no out in the bad times.

Its going to be great fun watching the state which brought us gay marriage over the next several years. Government under shumlin will expand, taxes will go to the roof and businesses will flee to new hampshire.
The only way property values won't collapse is if Disney takes over and manages it as a gigantic perpetual 60's commune-with no electric, flush toilets, meat, sugar and men over 5'6'' tall!I

There will be nobody else to blame now except dems. Schumlin will probably take a cue from Obungler and blame his predecessor for all the problems and failed policies over the next two years. Vermont will be a fiscal train wreck by 2012.

As Rome burned the Idiot played the harp. This time romeo Schumlin will play the harp, accompanied by Dean & Barney as VT. goes down the tubes. "Don't worry" They have relations in NY and the west bank to fall back on.

Oh sure...what has anyone who lives in NH got to fear. You guys are doing great in comparison to Vt and you just returned control of the state to the republicans. All I can say is Shumlin will make sure that any business thinking about Vermont of New Hampshire will choose NH ...just like it has been for the last two decades.

Don't pick on the Vermonters, they like shopping in NH and going to Lebanon for health care. Not too mention watch there Senators make jerks of themselves in Washington.
