Are these that complain the same that walk around Putney with their noses in the air snobs. The paper that they make this not needed by these snobs since they are too perfect to waste time around a toilet. The "rose nose" group came here after the scent of the mill since the paper mill been here near 200 years. If they are older then maybe it is them that smell. So now does this open the door for "don't Jersey VT". Perhaps the scent of a "java" & croissant" out door cafe to show off their expertise of there nonsense. Would you care for some goat milk with your delicate tea or a wedge of lemon perhaps. Oh' I heard Morning Mae's significant other took a job, the poor thing can you imagine such a thing. What is happening to our little world of Putney.

Revenge of the Nerds in action. They hate normal working class people because normal people picked on them for being weirdo's when they where kids so now they try and destroy normal people.

Move into a vermont mill town and than complain about the mill or they move into the country and complain about the smells from the farms.

They should close down the paper company and convert it into a nuke plant so there is no oder.

In 1974 after the clean water Act the state of Vermont descended on Putney Papere as their "test" case for clean up of the brook. I knew what they were doing at the time becasuse the brook flowed white in color and right under I91.

The trouble was that the technology to clean up waste water from a recycle paper mill was non existent. But they forced the issue and Putney Paper was forced to put in a system which was designed for municipal waste. It was a swiss design call Zurn Attisholtz. The engineers very clearly told the state...

...that the design had the potential of facilitating large populations of anaerobic bacteria which produce H2SO gas...rotten egg smell. They pushed for the installation anyway because they needed to show the Feds a success story. The system cleaned the water at the expense of our noses.

True story. I was there. Blame the State of Vermont Agency of Natural Resources.

First they are forced to install the ridiculously high priced "cleanup" machinery, then they are blamed for the smell from the very machinery they were forced to install. Sniveling ninnies rule the day. Should the sniveling ninnies get their way, we will all live in an unproductive glom of chronic complainers, slobbering for more $$$ from Montpeculiar and DC. But those evil people who work too much will be history!!!

It does sound very much like a conspiracy. Happy Hippies want to make the area one big FARM. There's nothing wrong with farms, but not everyone can go back to that .

Isn't hydrogen sulfide a greenhouse gas? For the sake of the environment, shut that place down now! Perhaps the 'shutdown PP' movement can be led by your very own long snout Shumlin. After all, he soon won't have VY to make his political career.

recycle and buy locally beats trucking the trash hundreds of miles and than trucking it back. The trucking polution is way more than just burnt fuel, also includes tires, oil changes, making the equipment and on it goes. It would defeat the GREEN agenda to run the place out of business.

I believe that the papper mill is a valude recorce for the comunity. One less company is less jobs in a time of a stugling economy and that efects us all. If i didn'nt like the condisions where I lived I would consider moving people all over vermont are complaning about somthin take them folks up in s. Burlington complanig about the nuise of the F16's when I here that noise I think freedum or them that liv by a farm and complane about the smell. but do'nt think about where there milk, meat, vegeis or the way of life that has been in familys for generations. now do'nt mistake me I believe that people are intitold to there natral born libertys though people are as intitold to work and suport there familys and sevls and a working comunity is a strong comunit.

this thread is hysterical. Mostly because it is ALL true. I happen to work at a location where many of the putney elite hang out, and enjoy conversation with one another. Usually over a glass of wine or fifteen. The things I have heard.

But, this is all true. And if I hadnt witnessed it all for myself, i would think its some kind of movie. I actually listened to a conversation between a group of the upper income residents one evening, and the husband in one of the couples called the smell, and i quote, "a nusuance to his ability to thoroughly enjoy his new garden."

another well to do responded. "I know, I was out back sun bathing the other day and the stench was horrid. I had to go inside after 15 minutes. I couldnt handle it anymore. Its just ridiculous."

So for those that think this doesnt go on. There you go

In regards to the resident's of "Putney Commons"

who in there right mind would build right in between a Paper mill and a sewage treatment facility, should have there head checked. apparently there wasn't any common sense involved when picking the location

but then again these are the same types of people who complain about the smell of agriculture when they build next to a farm.
