I am not sure if people need information on preparing for a Hurricane, rather the help they get after if they are left without power, water, food, and gas.

FEMA set up Stations for Ice and Food that made it impossible for many people in the Purvis area to drive to. Reason being they were without Gas and stranded. I was one of those who sat in my damaged home for a week without power, water, little food left and a empty gas tank in my car.. Not ONCE did i see anyone come past my home or my neighbors to check on us..see if we needed food, ice medical attention..we were on our own. This is what's really needed.. to have officals travel remote areas after and check on people. Sad thing about this is i was less then 2 miles from where food was being given out but could not walk due to medical reasons.

To PreciousOne, I'm sorry no one came to check on you during Katrina, People from my church drove around and checked on people in our area. But needless to say we live in a hurricane area. You should always have water on hand. When a warning is issued you should fill up your car with gas and possibly a can or two. You might want to check out getting some of those army rations to stick in the back of the closet to hold you out for a few days. I've said it before and I'll say it again. We live in Huricane alley and we should prepare ourselves for the inevitable before hand. It's our responsibility, not the governments, to make sure we are prepared before hand. Don't wait till its too late, Get prepared now!!!!

Ok let me try this again.
Hi Frank.
I agree with what you said.My family and I prepared for the Hurricane and stocked two week's worth of food and water, problem was in my area there was allot of damage and two weeks plus we were still without power or water, the gas stations were also without power so we couldn't get gas. Some stores were damaged also without power and the stores that were open soon found them selfs sold out of dry food.I'm sure no one expected Katrina would cause the amount of damage it did inland

I will say this has been an eye opener to me. And by the Grace of God we Survived ..My prayers go out for everyone who didn't.

Frank,by your posting am I correct in saying you live in Purvis? If so are things getting back to normal? As you can see I no longer live there I headed East. Who knows we may have been neighbors lol.
Have a good day.
Frank

PreciousOne, Sorry, nope I live outside of Petal. I hope things go better for you. Anyone reading this even though we should be prepared I think it would be a grand idea for churches in each area to check on people that live in that area, regardless of whether they go to that church or not. Nobody should go without being checked on. It is up to all of us to help ourselves and each other. That's the way God wants it!!!

Frank. Yes I Agree " check on the people who live in that area " There were some sections that were hit hard and the roads were blocked with fallen trees and wires, while other areas received minor damage I'm with you 100% Churches or groups of people who can organise this plan.
Have a great day Frank .. God Bless You .. lets hope you never have to go thru this again.
