Hey Dam Yankee I used to work at the Yellow Submarine on Main Street. What will you have, a
Depth Charger, a Torpedo, or my favorite,
The Captain's Special?

You guys forgot the Mayflower Donut Shop, the Barge, and the Maple Party Shop, Schraffs was a great place, as was Berger's Deli on Main St.

I spent many a happy night at the Ship Ahoy, Bondy's Tavern, the Pink Poodle, and the Village Inn.

Here's some memories:

I graduated BS grammer in 1968....I remember walking to school, and it did not matter if the weather was bad. The kids here have it good the ride a bus and never would have dreamed to walk to school in the rain or snow!

Yes many ice creams have come from Schraff's.... After mass we would hit Mayflower donut shop, goodness the memories.....

Did you live on the south end of town????

Ok what is the name of the tavern that was on Lawton St. I think it was something Irish....

Looking at the photos on the link you provided, brings to mind the Thanksgiving eve parade.

That bar on Lawton St. was called the Green
Derby and a great old time bar it was. That's
when New Rochelle was Irish. And Most of the bars
were Irish.

Ahhh thanks! Sometimes the mind does not work properly. My boyfriend at the time enjoyed going there. His going away party was there when he left for Nam. Now you would think I would remember the name.

Remember West Side NR, the italians, that was their neighborhood. Great Deli's there, italian ice, pastries....

Does anyone remember Robert Halls clothing store.
Use to go there in the 50's to get our school
clothes. Right down the street from what is now
New Roc. Those were the days!
It was right next door to "John' Baringgain's Store. Below was the bowling alley and on Main Street there was a Enterprise Dept store across from Bloomingdale's. After Church we would go "window shopping". More shoe stores than anyplace else.

You are confusing LYNN'S DRESS STORE and Robert Halls (Where low overhead means high quality.)
Robbert Hall's was down next to the Pepsi Cola Bottler plant, at Echo Ave, By Huguenot St.

Yes, Lieberman's is still there. See the story in pg. 4-5

I also remember Ray, the retired NRPD cop, who founded Yellow Submarine.

You're special, a Viet Vet's wife. Bless you & him.

I once lived on Prospect St.
I loved Christmas, because we would all go to Bloomingdale's 5th floor and watch the trains and look at the toys, and see Santa.

Thank You.

Did you know anyone from Bonnefoy Place.

We love to look at the windows at Bloomingdales, and dream. That was Christmas to us.

And Santa came on Thanksgiving eve. with the parade. Gosh my brother and I looked forward to the parade.
