Let's Talk About Dealing with Contractors

When dealing with hiring contractors, word of mouth is good, but don't rely on that 100%! How many bad references do you think the contractor is going to provide??? How about criminal records??? Do you really know who you are putting in your home???
I am a General Contractor licensed in Virginia, one of my biggest concern is who I will put inside of my client's home or place of business... ONe bad apple can spoil everything and I sure can't afford that!
I take advantage of E-Verify which is a database directly connected to the Department of Home Land Security and the Social Security Administration. So, if the person does not exist or is hiding something, I will find out.
Anyway, if any of you have any question or concerns, I have twenty years of experience in the construction field, I know how these guys operate and I am not here to burn anybody but to screen out the bad apples from a field that already carries a bad reputation and it should not be like that! There are great contractors out there, you just need to find them!
