He would also be scared to death. Phil wants out only to return to his real home, a large three story home where he has free run of the entire house. Where he is loved well fed and safe. O yes happy. You are right-Philwould probably not make it far. My tendency to root for the under(ground)dog threw reason out the window. I do think he would learn quickly to fear people and other animals though- he was smart enough to keep escaping. I still think an animal park with a very large enclosed area would be better than a 3 story home or library.

Put that whining, overpaid head librarian in Phil's zoo to stand guard.
Doesn't she realize that ALL libraries in the Commonwealth face budget cuts -- not just Punxsutawney Memorial Library.

Don't you realize you shouldn't be slamming that lady!!!! She is one of the best civic-minded people ever. More towns need women like her. That dumb comment was based on very little knowledge about her or her job. And I'm sure she is not overpaid.(shows what you know about it.) Plus, she is only alerted the unimformed about thier local luibrary she never stated or alluded that her library was an exception to the norm of what is happening in the state. NO MORE EVIL COMMENTS ABOUT IT!

I wonder why there is more press on Punxsy Phil trying to escape than there is on a human being, mistreated by the Punxsy police, who is paid by the taxpayers to protect and serve our community. I can almose assure if this was a death caused by a regular citizen all reports would have been rushed through quickly and names would have been released. There would be no problem solvingthe crime. And that is what happened there was a crime comitted by the Punxsutawney Police and now a poor man is dead. WHERE'S THE JUSTICE HERE. COMON PEOPLE THIS COULD HAPPEN AGAIN IF ITS OT KEPT ALIVE IN THE PRESS AND NEXT TIME IT COULD BE YOUR FATHER,SON,GRANDSON HUSBAND. KEEP YOU COMMENTS COMMING. THEY HAVE TO KNOW WE ARENT GOING TO STAND FOR THIS IN OUR COMMUNITY.

Darn rodent wouldn't keep escaping if they put him in a borough police cruiser overnight -- or during the day time, too.
Insert one groundhog. Set cruiser to 350 degrees. Bake until juices start to run.
