I've heard all these stories about the drug problem. Is it that bad or is it making a mountain out of a mole hill? I'm moving in a few months from Pittsburgh to Punxsy. I har no ties to bind me here and my wife wants to be closer to her family. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

You will be welcome with open arms here.
Naive and blissfully ignorant..........the key to happiness.

There's big secrets involving drugs that go way beyond the published street level crimes. But don't worry about anyone spilling the beans to spoil your happiness anytime soon.

Is that supposed to be some sort of sarcasm? I was asking a serious question.

There is a lot of drugs in Punxsy josh, but I have lives here my whole life, hung out with the right people and the drug issue has never affected me. So unless you go near it you can have a good life here.

There are a lot of drugs everywhere. Even much smaller towns around us have drug problems like Marion Center, Plumville, Dayton. The only way to get rid of it is to severely punish the pushers (for the first bust I'm talking mandatory 10+ years in the State pen) AND for the users dry them out (a year or so in the luxury hotel known as the county lockup might do it). No probation, no parole and no more letting them off with a slap on the wrist and "community service". Plus, start paying rewards to the people who turn them in and have PROOF so they can be convicted. If you really care about your son/daughter/mother/father/cou sin/uncle/aunt or neighbor down the street who uses (who will soon be dealing to your kids to support his habit), you'll report them.

Is there an area of town or streets that I should avoid while looking for a place to live? I just don't want to be woken up at 3am because the police are raiding my neighbor because of a meth lab in their home. I know that the company that you keep will help you or not help you avoid trouble. My wife is from Dayton and we know some of the area but not a whole lot. So how are the apartments? Any ideas of where to look would be greatly appreciated.

If you're worrying about getting woke up at 3 am by police after druggies, then there's one place for sure that you don't want to get a crib.
That's across from the punxsy police dept..
Sirens and tires schreeching all night long - the police handling all the drug calls.
Yep. That's a safe bet.

This town is equal opportunity ---it happens all over--rich sections and poor sections---luxury houses and subsidized housing. Hope you get lucky and find a good place

I don't think Punxsy will ever be free of drugs. There is never enough done about the problem. There are known areas where drugs are done and dealt and it still goes on. I am not sure if we need more cops or what but something needs done. Just wondering how you can give names without being known? Drugs are transported to Punxsy constantly by usually the same people and wondering why people not involved with drugs in any way can know this but not the officials.

GOOD LORD PEOPLE!

The man wants info about the best places to look for a home or apartment. Can someone answer his questions with editorializing? NO ONE has asked for your political stance - just information on neighborhoods.

Josh - I was born and raised in Punxsy and have learned that life is what you make it where you are. Obviously these people are bitter for never have ventured out of the valley.

My suggestion is to choose a home in a small outlying village like Valier.

My money is on "officials" being involved in the drug trade.
Not all of them........ Just key individuals making a GOOD buck.

Valier is too close to Punxsy, and nearly on the main highway, cars really fly down the main street. I would try Hamilton or North Point. North Point has a couple of families with elementary-age kids. Both towns are friendly, family-type communities; you don't have to worry about your kids 24/7. Allemang and ERA Powell real estate have houses for sale in these towns.
