Why in the world would the mayor of our town veto a bill that would literally benefit everyone. I would like nothing more than to see the scum bags in this community have to spread they're sickness and smoke away from our public parks. What had Alexander said about this?

Wehrle doesn't think second-hand smoke harms anyone.

How can he come to that conclusion, did the borough or the mayor even bother in looking into any medical studies? The facts are there. How ignorant.

I guess the Center for Disease Control is a bunch of wackos. The Council can vote again and overturn his veto, maybe they will. I'm pretty sure they were all in favor of it but the mayor also had to approve since it would be a law. There is something about they have to wait a few days or maybe until the next meeting to pass it again.

When I'm sitting at a picnic table at the Festival or in my early-placed chair at Music in the Park and some smoker decides to sit down and light up right next to me it is invading my space. Sure, I've asked them to put it out but they won't. Back in my day you would ask before you lit up. I heard one woman actually BLEW her smoke into someone's face when they objected. And what about all the cigarette butts all over the ground? or piles of spit out tobacco? Totally unsanitary. The Pantall went under due to not paying bills, taxes, etc. Their heat got shut off for non-payment, during Groundhog Day (wonderful publicity for the city, don't you think)!! As for the drinking, since that got nipped a good bit of crime/disorderly conduct got reduced. Punxsy doesn't need riff-raff coming in looking for a rowdy time, we have enough of our own home-grown.

I'll agree with you on this......
If a smoker is sitting next to you (close enough that the smoke is bothering you....not just that you can detect the smell of tobacco), then that smoker is an p.o.s..
If they don't get up and move, I'll call that harassment.
Otherwise, everyone shouldn't have to pay for one smoker's rudeness.
I smoke.....but if I see a smoker being rude, ill be the first to point that out to him/her.

If the higher than though council does manage to start a cigarette ban over the mayor's veto, I'm gonna empty all my ash trays in every park every time no one is looking.

I love how the biggest problem in our town is people smoking in the park.
Looks like Bodie and his cronies are going to have to find a new park bench to perch on.

You probably do that now. Smokers are their own worst enemies.
