Hmmm. Then I must be different than most Americans on a hot summer night. When I'm hot, I don't want to sleep in discomfort, so I run my AC all night long. I tend to think that most people do. After all, nights are when the electric companies give us these warnings about using too much electricity.

Even the US Justice Department's own National Institute for Justice finds that gun control laws & restrictions don't work.

You can find the memo here:

http://www.nraila.org/media/10883516/nij-gun-...

On the idea of “banning” so-called assault weapons:

"Twitter summary: Assault weapons are not a major contributor to gun crime. The existing stock of assault weapons is large, undercutting the effectiveness of bans with exemptions[...]

Guns are durable goods. The 1994 law exempted weapons manufactured before 1994. The exemption of pre-1994 models ensures that a large stock, estimated at 1.5 million, of existing weapons would persist. Prior to the 1994 ban, assault weapons were used in 2-8% of crimes. Therefore a complete elimination of assault weapons would not have a large impact on gun homicides.[...]"

On the prevalence of mass shootings (a key statistic used by gun control advocates such as Piers Morgan):

"Fatalities from mass shootings (those with 4 or more victims in a particular place and time) account on average for 35 fatalities per year. Policies that address the larger firearm homicide issue will have a far greater impact even if they do not address the particular issues of mass shootings."

And finally, on the so-called "assault weapon" bans:

"Since assault weapons are not a major contributor to US gun homicide and the existing stock of guns is large, an assault weapon ban is unlikely to have an impact on gun violence."

Since even the government itself does not think gun control will mitigate gun violence or eliminate guns, what what else could they possibly hope to accomplish other than simply disarming the people to be able to change them from citizens into subjects?

Who's arguing. You just can't answer the simple question of: "what is the function of government?"

I know the answer but you libbies don't! That's my point and you're afraid to give the answer for fear of ridicule.

So, you frog fart instead.

Hahahahahahahaha!
So, you're saying that the power companies are producing energy that is NOT being used? So, where's it all going? Simply disipating into thin air?
If there is all this excess energy, why are there all the excessive electric bills?
Why does the electric company pander for energy share for the poor folks? Why not just give them all this extra energy floating around out there instead of letting it go to waste?

Why is libbies are so scared of answering questions that have factual answers?

Because the media can't protect them?

A history book can't be rewritten quick enough to use as a source?

Jon Stewart or Steve Cobert hasn't said it and thus it can't exist?

Maybe messiah hasn't signed an Executive Order to change the facts yet?

It's because the idea of fact presenting makes their flesh crawl.

I'm not playing your game. I have asked YOU the question.

Your refusal to answer states that you can't answer or are afraid to answer because you'll get your butt handed to you when you do.

We have available to us all those on here to be the judge of your answer so it's not like your answer will be misinterpretted.

I clever game when one is ignorant is to misdirect by saying "What is the answer, then?" Man up and answer it or remain silent and stay out of the debates from now on.

We're not talking about personal decisions here, we're talking about the electric company not having enough juice to keep those appliances and lights going. So what happens when you plug in a few hundred thousand cars on top of what we use in the summer?
And let's not forget DumBama closing down all those wonderful electric plants because he hates coal so much. Increase the usage and lower the supply. That's real thinking.
Well, there's always wind and solar.

I would imagine he went for the gas engine for lower up front cost and regular gasoline being cheaper then diesel.

If you take a barrel of oil and refine it in to gas you get two gallons but if you refine it in to diesel you get three gallons .

Europe is ahead of us on this as the selection of diesel cars is many and I have road in a BMW diesel and you could not tell any difference from it's gas counter part.

But , we Americans are a hard headed lot and don't want to part with our gasoline engines even though over time it would save crude oil and a ramp up of diesel fuel production would bring down the cost of the fuel as well as the cost of home heating oil and jet fuel the airlines are complaining about.

I had two different friends both had small pick ups one made by Toyota the other Isuzu that had four cylinder diesel engines that ran so well we joked the body would rust away and the engine would keep on going to the point they would need to order a new pick up minus the engine and drop in the old engine.

Both companies discontinued the diesel engine and we said of course they did , once bought you had no reason to go back to them for a new truck.

Ford motor company said , not to long ago they won't bring the diesel small car to the USA.

Between the Government and the Corporations you could pull your hair out and today I don't have enough hair to spare.
