Not hardly! The NRA a grocley, moraly corrupt and single issue organization. To be fair, it only started to turn from useful to malignant after LaPierre took over and became the master liar and manipulator!

The dogs are barking but the caravan moves on. Reagan also tripled the national debt in his eight years in office with his obsession of the cold war. Reagan got Congress to cut taxes but not to make proportionate spending cuts. It is, in fact, Reagan who is the father of our massive national debt. On his watch the debt surpassed a once-unheard-of $1 trillion in Reagan's first year in office, and it was nearly $3 trillion when he left. A modern precedent had been set. A scant 22 years after he left office, the debt has ballooned to $14 trillion with an additional $1.5 trillion coming this fiscal year. Except for wars and economic depressions, this growth in debt was virtually unprecedented. Even during the Vietnam War, the rise of the Great Society and the "guns and butter" debate of the '60s, the federal debt rose only from about $285 billion in 1960 to $370 billion in 1970.

What’s wrong with a single issue organization? Do you want to mandate all organizations be multi issue? There are many single issue organizations in this nation. Even some I don’t care for such as PETA and MADD.

Then we have the Brady Campaign and VPC. They’re both single issue organization. Both very distasteful organizations out to scare the general public by using misinformation about firearms. I don’t call them evil. They do frequently lie.

Even if the NRA were corrupt how would that impact anyone other than the members?

We have a criminal problem, not a gun problem. When are you going to figure that out?

Yes, the EPA. A liberal wet dream. They’ve gone so much beyond their original mission it’s now inhibiting employment.

Oh what paucity, how many times have we heard these NRA semantics from the gun-a-holic crowd? Indeed, how many times have you uttered, or typed those lame words during a conversation or debate? And then cutting it short by misdirecting that we have nothing useful to offer. Followed by an insistence that nothing we suggest will work and rounded out with the common refrain that criminals won't obey the laws. We have had a broken system for tracking guns for a very long time and the NRA likes it that way! Effective gun laws are routinely and severely hindered by an endless supply of NRA-backed legislative restrictions. For example, the law prohibits A.T.F. agents from making more than one unannounced inspection a year on a gun dealer, a rule that serves no purpose other than protecting unscrupulous and dishonest dealers. Language included in every A.T.F. appropriations bill since 1979 has prohibited the bureau from putting gun sales records into a central computer database, courtesy of the NRA! The so-called Tiahrt amendments, attached to federal spending bills, require the federal government to destroy the background check records of gun buyers within 24 hours of approval, courtesy of the NRA. The NRA operates like the Politburo in Russia, with threats and intimidation, not like a democratic process that we supposedly have!
And we constantly hear whining drivel from fools like you that suck at the ass of lunatic leftist orgs like vpc, brady, daily kos, huffpo.

It is the atf that acts like the Stasi,SS, KGB. If they were competent they could catch a dealer with 1 surprise visit. They harass the innocent while being a criminal organization themselves.

Agree.

The left's policies protecting the rights of the mentally ill and allowing the early release of felons from prisons in several states is just adding fuel to the fire.

For example:

"Republican lawmakers in Connecticut have called for an end to Gov. Dannel Malloy’s early prisoner release program, arguing that the program was unsupervised and let dangerous convicts back on the streets.

The Republicans said hundreds of inmates, including violent criminals, may have been released from prison sooner than their sentences were up through the program, which took effect last summer."

Why don’t you tell that to the families that lost their children to your sacred guns!

In 2008, 20,000 children were injured by guns.

In 2011, 9000 plus Americans were murdered with guns.

Between 2008-09 almost 6000 kids were killed with guns in America.

Every year close to 90 preschoolers are killed with guns.

That's twice the number of cops shot, per year.

What are acceptable numbers for the fanatical NRA?

Maybe we should outlaw car travel for children or swimming pools since kids drown that way.

You people on the left are in constant strives to find legislation that prohibits death. Death is not a part of life. Getting hurt is always preventable with enough laws. Just keep pushing to have everybody in their own little safe bubble, and don't worry about liberty.

And yet the NRA and its apologists continue to blithely whistle “Guns don’t kill people - People kill people.” But, as we all know, it is nothing but semantics, the fact remains that “people use guns to kill people.” The NRA is almost solely responsible for the ease with which weapons can be sold, bought and used in America. As a result, it is nothing less than a terrorist organization, enabling the killings of innocent victims and whose very soul is awash in blood.
The Cato Institute, a conservative think tank, is filled with people who long for the 19th century and appear regularly on national TV to defend the so-called gun rights. In a discussion, Robert Levy told a reporter:“… conspicuously missing from the news reporting is all of the crimes that are deterred because the would-be assailants suspected that their would-be victims might be armed – guns are used for self-defense! Oh really – what self defense? Both the FBI and the Justice Dept. report that “self defense” claims are used by people charged with crimes involving a shooting. Last year alone, it was used in more than 5,000 cases nationwide, including murders and felony assault with a deadly weapon. Courts agreed the defendants – are you sitting down – acted in self-defense in only 250 cases. In other words, of the known 5,000 cases, at least 4,750 shootings had nothing to do with self-defense. Only a terrorist organization would be as sanguine or callous about rampant murder of innocent Americans as LaPierre and his cronies at the Cato Institute and the NRA.
