There are way too many phone book publishers for Hawaii and none are any good in my opinion.

Many times the distributors just dump the phone books off next to the main rubbish container by the hundreds so most of the end users never even see them. Well, maybe that is better anyway. Every phone book is different and many are so large that it's hard to carry them around from room to room in your house.

The best solution ever is to go on the internet and find any phone number you want within a few seconds. Hawaiian Tel has a great service for this and it's free.

Wonder where all the trees went? Well, now you know there all being used to make phone books.

We all have our preferences as to which source to use when yellow pages services are needed. I prefer HawaiianTelCom's publication. I have to disagree with Von in Aiea though. Recently I wanted to look for a specific product and I found far more listings in Hawaiianatelcom's printed edition than I did in their electronic edition. Plus there was a fuller description of the services being offered in the printed edition.

The phone books are a relic fron the days of the rotary dial. The phone companies rake in millions of dollars a month from advertisers and don't want to let the cash-cow die. Vaughn is correct, most end up in the trash bin never having been opened. Learn to use the internet, most businesses have.

Ok.:)

Have a nice day.

The pages of phone books make a very nice place to mix my paint on for my artwork.

I sorta agree with Von, we get too many phone books that just end up filling up the landfills...I don't use the electronic phonebook, but I do value the HawaiianTel phonebooks for information and numbers.

I feel sorry for the businesses that buy ads in the other phone books...they are given a bill of goods when the distributor talks about how many copies are printed and distributed...the question should be how many subscribers to the service or how many are actually used. I would think less than 5% of those distributed.

Those phone books are just landfill material.....

who needs a phone book when nearly everyone has one in their pocket or purse.

Send a text message to the number 466453 (google). Type in sushi 96813 or your own zip code to see what's in your area.

The market can't regulate itself when they have no choice in whether or not the receive the books. Once a year is plenty.

In the past Oahu residents were able to recycle old or unwanted Yellow Page books at local collection sites set up at schools and other locations. This is no longer an option. The Mayor, in his infinite wisdom, nixed that plan in favor of dumping them in the trash to be picked up by union employees. They are then seperated from the rest of our refuse and burned; that's right, burned. Apparently we don't have enough contaminents in our atmosphere and union jobs are more important than clean air. So much for the quality of life; Mahalo Mayor Mufi!

It's much easier to GOOGLE or use another search engine to get the number that you need that sifting through a piece of junk. As soon as they drop it on my driveway, it's very convenient to drop it in my trash bin thereafter.

I believe that to voice the concerns of all people, one would have to look for the needs of those with challenges such as physical or economic, before a true voice could be heard.

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Sagittarius

A loved one gets hold of the wrong end of the stick today, causing endless hassle and fuss. They're likely to get upset in the process, so you have to calm them down, and that could lead to a squabble. You may also have to cope with discord when discussing family matters, with certain people getting bogged down in daft details that you think have nothing to do with the main issue.
