I had a friend here who was an experienced police officer who was confronted by a woman who had just killed someone, advancing on him still with the same knife in her hand, clearly in a daze.I am still on the fence about who the bad guy was in this situation, but something is bothering me. So many people have commented on the reaction of the officer and suggesting how he should have handled it. If the officer was truly in danger, I can assume he took whatever action needed to protect his life. How many of you are police officers? How many of you have been victims of violent crimes? Nobody can say what they would do when push came to shove and they were in a fight for their life. IF this officer was truly protecting his life how can we judge him for the amount of shots it took him?,
He was mightily relieved when she obeyed his instruction to put the knife down, as he was that close to discharging his firearm directly at her.
It troubled him a lot how close he had come to killing her.
In your country the humanity seems obscured by being part of an authority obedience construct.
Something seems to have been lost in the mix somewhere in your pursuit of a free and peaceful society.
