i am not so much offended by traffic/red-light cameras as i am by where they are deployed and what they are used for. i would rather see them around elementary, middle and high schools in albuquerque.
not only would they protect our children, but discourage a lot of would-be vandals from vandalizing the schools. i am even more sickened by the SCORES of closed circuit tv cameras our dictator for life has had installed around civic plaza. rather than clean up his ways and run a clean government, he has become paranoid and assigned himself bodyguards and uses cameras to prevent any irate and out-of-control citizen who has been victimized by this sewer of a municipal government into taking revenge on the person responsible for the lawlessness under color of law here- mayor for life marty chavez! it'd be a lot cheaper to clean up your ways, you pint-sized crook than to turn albuquerque into the Tehran of the Southwest.

ABQ has prospered well with Mayor Chavez a leader, planner and visionist for your community. Read how your city has risen above the others as one of the best cities to live in the US in a number of publications and surveys. If only he would let the TV series COPS film chase scenes in ABQ.

Nice try, Marty. We know it's you. Quit trolling, lol!

He is entitled to respect. He is not perfect, but would you really want Ken Shultz again. Mr. Chavez has done a lot for your town. He has worked hard at being Mayor. "It is better to face the evil we know"

Many wanted the new face of Bill Richardson but have now soured on him. I would say take note, Marty gets things done, he has been attacked and survived. He has divorced and survived. He hangs in there. I say we keep him. Things are more ok with him than they will be with one of the other challengers. Marty is tempered metal. He has made it through the learning curve without hitting the wall. I will vote for Marty Chavez again.

I really want to see the proof that the rodent took the law to court and won. The rodent has never made it public who the judge was or when this legal rendering actually took place. I highly suspect the alleged legal actions are a bluff by the rodent.

If you vote for chavez (aka: the rodent or the runt) you are flat out stupid.

Rodent? Runt? Stupid to vote? Bluff? What are you talking about? Why don't you run for the council so you can try out your attitude in the public arena. Remember, the prisoners you taught could not leave. The voters will let you know how well received you are as they have Mayor Chavez by electing him over and over. You would be handed your head in a thimble. You have called a majority of voters stupid for voting for Marty Chavez. Is that smart?

With that stupid rule none of the good potential canidates could get the signatures and they voted it in and shot themselves in thier own feet...Romero really already running a dirty campaign? The other Richard just not going to be able to get the job done...We are so in the toilet for another 4 years...

As a City employee who voted for Marty I have watched what a sneak he is behind the scenes and he will not have my vote again. He is like a little Napoleon.

But, as for the people complaining about red light cameras - just don't drive like an idiot and you don't get tickets from them!

No,I'd rather have Jim Baca again.Just think-we could have had all the improvements without all the corruption,heavy-handed police state actions and a lot less traffic.

You sound stupid. You don't know how to spell and what exactly do you mean by "go pick chile in Hatch with the rest of them"? Is that a racist remark? And why in the heck do so many people have a problem with the red light cameras? If you're not running red lights, you're fine. My God, there is so much more going on in this City than the red light cameras. Almost every time I read the comments here, I'm outraged. Most people here just bitch and moan about the dumbest things. I rarely read anything of any significance or intelligence. Way to go Albuquerque, you blame the elected officials for everything but I seldom read any ideas from you about what you would do to make this place better. Go ahead, vote someone else in. You'll probably start complaining about them too and still sound like idiots!

Did someone say Mayor Bailey? Is Albuquerque really going to end up like Chicago? Where the Mayor doesn’t go away until he dies? Besides what else is the current Mayor going to do, no chance at Governor or U.S Congress, no way for U.S. Senator! Since his former in-law Manny Aragon is out of Legislature and in jail he might, just might get elected to a State Senate seat or how about President of UNM... Poor Little Mayor...

While in Rome 11 years ago I was shocked to run across a band of Mussolini supporters selling t-shirts at a flea market.Goes to show what happens if you can make the trains run on time.

You may want to check your facts. Mayor for Life Marty Chavez was elected with a MINORITY of the vote. A full 53% of us voted AGAINST him. Problem was, he had so many of his straw candidates running, he won with that minority of the vote. The little coprolite acts like he has a public mandate though 53% of us, THE MAJORITY, didn't want anything to do with him.

Haha. Thanks for the laugh. Albuquerque does resemble Chicago in that respect- Mayor "The re-Animator" Dailey and his son, apparently having had a death grip on the office of Mayor, and in Albuquerque, as they did in Chicago, death doesn't prevent a "voter" from voting. A lot of that used to happen in Texas too during Lyndon Baines Johnson's lifetime.

So your OK with a private entity, in Arizona no less, issuing you a ticket?

If yes, how about if it is some Goth IT guy in a black trenchcoat sipping a Starbuck's while watching Oprah?

What about the scenario where Redflex just needs to earn a bit more money that month and 'tweaks' things?

What other parts of law enforcement should be privatized?

The fact you voted for Marty shows you don't think anything through, including the slippery-slope of redlight camera law-enforcement.
