An openly gay man and a 60-year-old woman are among the three candidates for homecoming queen at Colorado State University-Pueblo this year.

I am a traditionalist in values and Christ follower believe that the definition of "Queen" applies only to females. The Oxford American Dictionary agrees with me in every definition except for the informal offensive. Therefore I believe that DeMarques Taylor, a man in biology, should only be allowed to run for king. I don't want to discriminate based on his sexual orientation, though i disagree with it. I am just stating that the term "queen" should refer to women and not men.

If you have to look up in a dictionary to analyze the situation then obviously you are not looking at the situation in an open way. I go to the school, and i have a friend that is close friends with him. He was doing it because he wanted the stereotypical "jock and cheerleader" to win the status of homecoming king and queen. He was not doing it to prove a point as a homosexual. i think people need to live and let live and allow him to do what he wants.
