Global oil production has peaked and global demand is increasing. Oil prices will generally trend upward at an increasing rate from now on. Humanity has to invest, on a scale larger than 10 manhattan projects, in viabe, cleaner and (most importantly for the long term) renewable and reliable energy sources. We must do this if we hope to have our global civilization survive.
