close enough. the feeder pipes into the main pipeline from a huge oilfield are shutting down... either way we get less oil from alaska and high prices for gas...

There's still oil out there.....

New oil field found in Kazakhstan

AKTOBE, Kazakhstan, July 6 (UPI)-- An oil field with an estimated 20 million barrels has been found in Aktobe, Kazakhstan, by a joint oil venture between Kazakhstan and South Korean firms.

The Yonhap News Agency reports early testing of the new field shows clean reserves with high quality and low water content.

State-run Korea National Oil Corp. and the South Korean LG International Corp. make up nearly 50 percent of a consortium with Kazakhstan companies.

Production of the oil field will begin next year. It is the fourth field in the Aktobe area.

I'm sure the American Oil Companies already know that. If Kazakhstan isn't nice to America, you know what will happen......

Why on earth would the refineries ask congress to open the reserves? Supply and dmeand, less supply more demand equals higher prices. Time to buy a hybrid!

If they are dipping into the reserves why does the price have to go up. The oil companies want Americans to pay for the repairs after they have had record profits. They probably paid another country to build the pipeline for cheap and now want us to pay to fix it. Crooks.....

Oil extraction on this planet has peaked and is declining. Global demand for oil is increasing. This means prices will trend upward at a quickening rate. The fact that a pipe or refinery shutdown can have such an impact on the market is a simptom of stressed supply.

Humanity must embark on a manhattan x10 project to find a viable, plentiful, clean, reliable and (most importantly) renewable fuel source or sources if it hopes to maintain it's global technological civilization.
