I have lived on my farm in the Hubbard Lake area for 16 years now and I had lulled myself into a false sense of security because I really did think this was a quiet and peaceful place....Yes, even God's Country... That's why I encouraged my Son and his family to leave crime ridden Tacoma WA to come here in 2008. I could hardly believe it when an arsonist visited the people next door to my son's old Hubbard Lake Store (across from the Post Office) and, for no other reason than the person is a serial arsonist...crept in when the family was asleep and burned down the Store and upper story apartment that they lived in. They narrowly escaped the fire and my son fought alone to save his old building while the party goers next door looked on with their beers in their hands. Out of the 25 + people there, not one person heeded his crys for help.
Since then, I have had to become more aware that there are good people and bad people and people somewhere in-between, no matter where you might be.
I think it is everyones' job to keep your eyes and ears open all the time these days and try your best to spot trouble and report it before it's too late. There is no such thing as being too concerned or too vigilant. Just remember, It CAN happen to you and we all need all the help we can get.

Patricia, there are indeed some VERY sick people who need help. We as a community have TRIED to protect one another....the problem lies within our laws, perceptions of officers/thier PERSONAL experience dictates HOW quickly they respond to each situation, and unfortunately--we live in a SMALL TOWN where "BAD" things just don't happen. Talk about bursting that bubble! Yes, a murder less than 5 miles from my house is WAY TOO CLOSE for comfort! Let's all have our own arsenal ready to 'protect' ourselves, as it's APPARENT the police aren't able to do anything to stop things BEFORE it's too late!!!!!!!!!!

And of course they (police & media) didn't want to lambast a "family" name across the airwaves. DISGUSTING!

WHY were there no bulletins regarding a MURDERER on the loose? He could have been ANYWHERE looking for another ex!!!!!

I wish to God that someone had taken justice into their own hands with this lunatic monster long before it came to this. STALKERS NEED HELP!! Looooooong history of abusing women for this MONSTER!!!!

patricia,
i lived in the house next to your sons old building/store..too get a couple things streight, for one there was not 25 + PEOPLE at my house the night of that fire, we did not stand around with beer in our hands and watch the fire burn...maybe stood around and watched the fire fighters put the fire out.. if we knew that the guy was a arsonist he would of never been over to our house..your son did get help when he came outside and asked us to call 911 that is what we did.....so therefore please do not judge us when you do not know what happen or when you was not even there when it all started ..its a tragic that your son lost his house cause it could of happened to anyone of us who allowed him in our home, and your son did not fight that fire himself..he had a crew of firefighters to put that fire out and if your talkin before the fire there was nothing anyone could do other then to wait for the fire fighters to arrive...

If this family is this dysfunctional, can you share the names with us so we have an idea who to stay away from?

Daily Horoscope for May 24

Aquarius

In complete contrast to yesterday, you have your head screwed on firmly today. Yet you won't be boringly sensible or drearily practical, so there's no danger of you having turned into a dry old stick overnight. It's a good day for keeping track of important details and processes, such as confirming a forthcoming appointment or filling in a form and then making a copy of it before sending it off.
