This just goes to show you, laws are not deterrents to crime. What they really are is punishment for the crime.
Today there are 8 times as many people in prison than in 1972. And crime is virtually the same rate as it was in 1972 according to the JRA Institute.
What we really need is to quit wasting money and directly target the primary causes of crime. These efforts which emphasize education, vocational skills and treatment programs to address dependency and mental health issues.

i know alot of those folks, and 75% of them were/are users!!! If this was a six month investigation, how did the users get mixed up with the dealers?

Cause>? What people fail to realize is the Government CREATED criminals under Nixon in 1972 by declaring War On Drugs.

Result? The price of drugs went up. The drug users turned to old fashion crime i.e. robbery, burglary, prostitution, murder etc. to pay for their newly found EXPENSIVE habit.

When will they learn???
maybe

Theere is a certain police sergeant in Newberry who has a brand spanking new H2 Hummer. And he buys a new corvette each and every year. He and his wife (who does not work) live in a nice brick home in an elegant area in the city of Newberry where home prices average over 300,00 dollars. He's not the only one. I persoanlly am related to a sheriff's deputy who buys a new Yukon every year and recently bought a large farm with lots of acreage. His wife does not work yet they always seem to be wearing designer clothing.
I know also of incidents where citizens have reported susicious activity for the police and sheriff's department to investigate only to be ignored. There is a whole lot more. I have seen with my own eyes cops in marked vehicles frequenting known drug houses. On a daily basis. It's also strange that while some busts are made, these busts never occur in the vicinity of any area where an officer has been seen hanging out. I am telling you there is definite, known drug traffic in those houses, too. But if a cop is going there, the dealer will not be busted. It is well established that the cops in Newberry are involved with the drug trade here and are on the take. They protect thedealers who either pay them off or who they are financing themselves.

Is it legal for Judge Tracy Carroll to be married to Lt Billy Flurry who works for the Aiken County Sheriff's Office? LT Flurry has a number of officers who present there case in her courtroom for warrants, arrests, hearings, trials, etc. It's hard to believe that she is able to conduct impartial and independent hearings given that she's sleeping with law enforcement. This just doesn't seem right from an ethical point of view???

Looks like to me, if you do what you're supposed to and NOT what you shouldn't be - you won't have to be worried about law enforcement at all....regardless of WHERE you live!

Keep up the good work! Drug dealers have no place in civilized society. They should be locked up indefinitely. Keep that mess off of the streets and away from our schools. Maybe my kids can actually feel safe to go to the park and play. Next you can do something about the graffiti and tagging that those criminal put all over the signs all around town. I donít know if there is actually any gang activity in Newberry or if it is just some punk kids trying to be bad ass. Either way it would be nice to see drugs or other illegal activity eradicated.

The real illegal activity is the corruption within the Newberry law enforcement and the many officers who are on the take. It is a sad day when people cannot or will not open their eyes to the higher crimes within law enforcement. Newberry law enforcement has been under investigation by the Federal Marshall for quite a while. The money from all those drugs that you people loathe is going straight into the corrupt pockets of Lee Foster.

My mother was always quite fond of saying: "If you can't make in Newberry as anything else, you can always become a cop." Didn't make the cops any too fond of her but as she had "more money than God" as they say, they were afraid to show it.

You all see it EXACTLY the way I do. Jail does nothing....Addiction programs and education is what makes the difference. Dealers are only in business because there is a demand. no demand no product :)
The amount of NON-VIOLENT drug offenses in jail is ridiculous as well as the billions upon billions upon billions of dollars wasted.

So, when does accountability arrive within the Newberry law enforcement department? There is enough corruption to go around. These people are just unfortunate enough to not be able to make pay-offs. I would like to see the federal marshall involved in an investigation into the members of all Newberry law enforcement. So would many others.
I wish more people felt this way.

Guess what? It was NOT near a school. It WAS near a park, but that park is not in use. The police force in the city of Newberry is even more corrupt than the people they arrest. In this case, the ones they arrested apparently just wer guilty of not paying tribute to the city cops. You have no idea what Newberry law enforcement is like. The people they arrested just didn't pay enough to the city cops to stay out of jail.
This is so true. Newberry law enforcement took an oath to server and protect NOT to server and make money off the drugs.
