We will not know how much it will cost us in taxes until we know how much the bridges are going to cost us in the end and how much a 15 year bond is going to cost us in intrest. Remember this will be paid out of the high way budget.

and also remember that there is $50.000 a year budgeted for bridges in the highway budget , use that and no increase .....

as far as a celebration , it would have to be without Bill H. , Bill G. , Nancy , and John ...

A 20 year bond was already voted on, and approved for the bridges.

not much chance that the $50K/yr budgeted bridge monies will go for the "twins"

If we use that to pay for the bond what do we use to maintain the bridges that are left? Don't give me anything about them not being maintain before, there might be a new road supervisor and you are just setting him up to fail. And don't give me anything about the health insurance cost, that is something that will have to be dealt with but might take some time, mean while the bond payments have to be paid. I don't have any idea how much the bond payments will be, I don't know how any one can know till they know how much the interest rate will be and I don't see how taxes won't go up.

Bill Hasenauer needs to win this primary to qualify for the Town to pay his health insurance for life. Then there is John Isley with his salary and benefits. Go to the Town Hall and find out what it cost to have two supervisors, Bill and John in gas and other expenses. Bob Seiger is not covered by the Towns health coverage and wouldn't if elected. Add that up Taxpayer.

find out how much the town gets in sales tax money ( its a lot ), and it goes up every year , the health care costs go up about 15% per year ( every year ) the town has bought a lot of new trucks , pay goes up for town employees and yet no increase in taxes , they can make the payments without an increase , but Bill will fight it just to make sure that he can say he told us so , as far as not bringing up the health care costs , I believe that close to $300,000 a year and going up is a big point , that you want left out , and its because the fox is watching the hen house that it has got this bad ....

Forestport Birthday Celebration is the celebration!
It's part of the community, and part of the celebration. No extra fan fare necessary stay conservative, we all know how this all came about. We do remember. Just my opinion.

Old Timer, very good clear thinking. I think many of us feel the dedicated Bridges ceremony runs the risk of being seen as an anti Bill H and Bill Gardner celebration and I feel certain they would feel very uncomfortable attending. I also believe it would be viewed as a victory or political event for me because I am running for Town Supervisor. I don't want that and I would not feel comfortable attending. There are still allot of strong feelings left over from the bridges fight on both sides so let's give it a rest. Having said that, a non dedicated parade to celebrate this historic event could happen by just using the bridges in the parade. We could honer some senior residents, drive our classic cars, have some fire trucks squirting water and general revelry to celebrate our Town on its birthday culminating with the fireworks over our pond.......

There will be a ceremony on the morning of August 24th to "open" the Bridge and Old Forestport Days. The Firemen will push the newly refurbished 1800's Pumper to "wet down the bridge" - like breaking a bottle of champagne over the bow of a new boat. We are asking Terry Larkin to cut the ribbon. The Girl Scouts and Little Leaguers are being asked to be part of this to reflect the future of Forestport. A letter to invite the Model T-Club is also in the works as they generally come to the OFD event. And we are hoping that Roger McLaughlin and his horse-drawn wagon will be part of this official opening ceremony....very exciting to see these bridges re-opened. Aiming for 11 AM for this to happen.

Update: Roger McLaughlin has a wedding that date so no horse drawn rides....however, anyone with a classic or special car is asked to participate- already 5 people are willing to be there with their classic cars and the Model T Club is enthusiastic too. I understand that there will be 1-2 horses too. So...if you have any other suggestions how we can make this special, please contact me - and thanks!!!

By all means celebrate the opening of the bridges!
They were and are essential and they aren't costing
an arm and a leg, thanks to a couple of board members who persevered through a lot of nonsense.
