Ask anyone who is working there now (who hasn't been promised a reward) and they will tell you what Padilla is really like. We need CHANGE in this county.

Anyone head south out of K-town on the highway lately? Look over to your left at the big billboard. Shows who some of Padilla's "supporters"
are: Nancy Sutton and Firebug Doug. Oh boy.. maybe there is a reason why no one was convicted.

That is not a list of supporters. That is a list of the republicans running for county board in that district. Those billboards are put up by the henry county republicans not jim padilla.

Ha, that's even better, the Henry County Republicans don't know or don't care who they are associated with. Yea, we really want THEM to get elected.

He may be that way out in public - or to YOUR face - but we don't need him as Sheriff. We need a professional law enforcement officer who knows how to manage a modern law enforcement agency.

Padilla picks and chooses who he returns calls to. He makes no effort to discover the truth when problems come up. He "lets it slide" when one of his buddies breaks the rules and then disciplines others. Since being made Chief Deputy, what has he done to improve the place? Reading his responses to questions in a recent Dispatch/Argus article makes it seem like he is already planning on layoffs ("creative scheduling"??) and he says nothing about ways to keep the employees (how about some "creative financing" instead?). He spits out the same tired old crap we always hear from "politicians". But then, considering who he wants to take the reigns from, that is not suprising. Padilla probably even has a horse hidden somewhere, waiting.

it is interesting how some of you guys know excatially what jim is thinking. how about instead of assuming everything you actually ask him.

seen a letter to the editor written bye one of dan colliers employes, wonder how much he is paying them to write that?? still can't get over the fact that you lost to a better man, can you dan?? jim padilla is the right guy. he has the experience and the leadership to run the office. tim wise has never even worked in the sheriffs office, why would you want someone like that to be sheriff? were not applying for a patrol job here tim!! PADILLA FOR SHERIFF

Been there, done that. He answers questions like a POLITICIAN, and a poor one at that. In fact, he sounds alot like his mentor, Cady. At least Wise gives real answers.

Anyone who followed the Primary closely knows that the only reason Padilla beat Collier is because Bedford pulled Geneseo votes away from Collier. Even then, Padilla was behind until the Kewanee votes came in and EVEN THEN, he BARELY won the Primary.

For those who brag up how much experience Padilla has, experience does not mean you are qualified. Wise has been the head of an agency for several years and until you have actually worn that hat - which Padilla HAS NOT - you don't know for sure yourself if you are qualified. Everything changes when you become "the boss". Just ask anyone who is one.

so your telling me that a guy that a guy that has never worked in the henry county sheriffs office and is a cop in annawan, a village of 1,000 (guessing on that) is qualifed to be sheriff. wise does nothing in annawan, he does what the board tells him to to. listen to him on the radio, he has experience with bar fights. pretty sure 70% of the people out there can say they have been in an argument in a bar. wise has nothing, all he keeps saying is new leadership. well no matter who wins there is going to be new leadership.

and for you second statement, it still seems like a touchy subject to you that collier lost. HE LOST GET OVER IT.

jim has worked every part of the sheriffs office, can wise say that?? jim has been employed by the sheriffs office can wise say that?? padilla has worked with homicides can wise say that?? padilla has worked with the sheriffs office budget can wise say that?? padilla has worked deadly child abuse cases can wise say that??

to me the choice is clear make the WISE choice...PADILLA FOR SHERIFF.

The point is that Padilla is "just a cop" at Henry County, and has NEVER been the head of ANY law enforcement agency. Wise has. Until you have sat in that chair there is no one - not even you - who knows for certain what kind of boss you will make. But, you are all giggly and starry-eyed over Padilla, so there is no point in saying any more. Those who are wanting something real to think about, other than "Vote For Me" will digest this and form an opinion.

Uhm, YOU are the one who brought up Collier. I was responding to YOUR statement. You Padilla people don't seem to realize that without Bedford, it would be Collier running for Sheriff right now. Well, you don't have a Bedford to pull votes away from the other guy this time. Unless you expect Cooper to do that. Ha.

Ok,let's take it from the top. Padilla has NOT worked "every part of the sheriff's office". Just a couple of examples: he has never answered 9-1-1 calls full-time, he has never cooked meals for the inmates full-time, he has never been a secretary full-time. Maybe you should reword your statement to say Padilla "has worked every part of the sheriff's office that he doesn't think is beneath him". He barely worked a few weeks as a jailer, only because the Sheriff's Office doesn't hire direct to patrol, and then he was promoted to patrol over others who had more seniority and had been waiting. Gib has had Padilla on a fast track for a long time. Ok, next: Wise has been employed by a sheriff's office. It's in his Bio. Next: Padilla has helped OTHER department's Detectives with Homicide investigations. The actual number of homicides that he personally has investigated is rather small, but, Thank God, Annawan has never had a homicide while Wise has been Chief. Let's see, next: Wise has done a complete department budget for several years, and has NEVER been investigated, sued, or had any other irregularity. Can the sheriff's office with Padilla say the same? What's next: Padilla has, again as in homicides, helped OTHER agencies with child abuse, and has investigated some himself, and so has Wise. No community is safe from child abuse, not even Annawan. Ok, is that it? Boy you Padilla people are long-winded, and where did it get us?
