Girls and boys will no longer have any classes or interaction together at school. They are separating them because there is supposedly too much PDA at school. Really????? WTF????? How can they just decide to do this? Was this even taken to the school board??? Fairland schools are getting way to ridiculous with their "power hungry" idiots that are employed there!! This will just make things worse! Do they think they aren't going to be catching kids sneaking and really doing things they aren't suppose to be doing? How is there PDA at school anyway? They have enough employees to watch these kids! And they do watch them like hawks anyway! So how is it happening???
Am I the only one this seems insane too??????

Not true. There is no separation during classes. My child said it was only at recess.

Well, I've had 4 tell me there was an announcement that classes will be starting to separate next week. So far they have only separated them at recess.

It's true. Recesses are separated and Tuesday they start it in the classrooms. I think it's a little crazy, if I wanted my child to avoid the opposite sex then I would send them to an all boys or all girls school.

Why are parents complaining?? Thats a good thing. There are many schools in wv that started that. We talked about in a class I have. It's a provin fact that students learn more and focus better on school that way. At first it may not bc students will be too concerned that they won't get to see there bf or gf but later in you may see an improvement.

Sue, trust me, it is true! FHS student, I know some of those girls at the middle school and the restrooms are not going to be used as they are meant to be used from now on! Separating them is going to make things so much worse!! I don't want my child around things like that happening. My child already hears enough stuff at that school as it is!!!! Fairland is full of drugs, alcohol, and sex! I know all schools are that way to a certain point but Fairland is the worst. I have 3 in high school and 1 in middle. I've heard them talking. This whole separation will make everything 10 times worse...mark my words!! You will see! I just want to know how they can just all of a sudden decide to do this. No notice to the parents of it being an issue at a board meeting or anything. Like I said power hungry people who are idiots!!! They have no power anywhere else so they use their jobs to bully kids. People worry about students bullying each other when they should worry about the staff doing the bullying!

I am in 8th grade and rite now they only seperated recess and me n my boyfriend got sep. ;-( well i think fms principals are getting TOO rediculas first we have all classes withthe same exact people every day so there is less trouble and they made it TOO strict. But they never said anything about doing that..they probbably wont

next years principal Mr. Lewis has started these stupid ideas because he was at the alternative school and they seperate boys and girls. Only mean kids go there and most of us at the middle school are not bad. Next year will probably be worse than ever.

This is one of the best things I have heard in a long time! Should be done immediately. Those kids are out of control and no it isnt the fault of the school system. I live in this community and have kids that have gone through the system and are currently attendinf Fairland. I go to ball games and community functions. I witness kids over and over behaving terribly. I was at Pullman recently and noticed some middle school kids from Faitland behaving like they were under the influence of alcohol or drugs or maybe both. Wake up parents and support the school system that is having to deal with this group. obviously, the parents are not controlling them or teaching them appropriate behavior. Theses kids need to learn that there are repercussions to bad behavior.

There not being bullied by the staff. There trying to keep trouble down and make the school a better atmosphere for the kids and make their jobs easier by not dealing with the teenage drama. I can see where your coming from though as a parent with all the drugs and alcohol but really it this bad everywhere. It's a lot more common now than what parents think. I agree it is rediculious on all the stuff you here at school from other students but it honestly as bad everywhere else.

We have issues that need to be addressed but they will be swept under the rug. Just smile and pretend everything is ok when it really isn't.

I understand what you are saying about how the kids act. Look at the 4 that were drunk at school. 8th graders! The parents are to blame and no, the school shouldn't be the ones to have to punish them. Punish the ones that are bad, why should every student be punished???? Do you not understand what I am saying about separating them????? It is going to push them together even more!!!! I know people who were raised so strict that it made them do the things they were forbidden to do even more!!! We have lived all over this country and I have NEVER seen a school with rules the way Fairland is. I don't even agree with the kids being in the same classes with the same people all the time. Those kids get sick of each other and need to be around others. They need to mix the kids. They are trying to prepare them for high school and college but high school and college aren't like that!! All I have to say is if Lewis is the principal next year, that school is in some serious trouble!!!! I'm thinking it's time to pull my kids from Fairland!

What prompted the change? I heard about the middle school drinking issue on the last day before break, but really....seperating them wouldn't have stopped that.

My child came home and told me that a sixth grade girl accused a sixth grade boy of grabbing her chest. This happened before Christmad break that's why when they had the winter dance the boys an girls weren't allowed to sit on the bleachers together, have the lights turned down or have the disco lights. I did get confirmation from a school official about the incident. The school official of course couldn't comment on the situation exactly but he did confthatched accusation. When I was in school boys and girls weren't allowed to sit by each other in the lunchroom but that's about it. We still all were together during class time and recess.
