According to wvva.com it was just a rumor. It was originally aimed at Moncalm, then spread to point at PSHS, Princeton Middle school, and the Vo-Tech. Go to wvva.com and read for yourself.

Like I just stated... It STARTED at Montcalm... then somehow it was said to involve the other schools. Why were the police there!?! TO CHECK AND MAKE SURE I WAS JUST A RUMOR!!! I guess you think that because it was a "rumor" the law should IGNORE IT??? Having children in our school system I for one a glad that they take that serious!

There trying to keep it quiet. A teenager from Montcalm was found on MCTEC campus with a firearm. Yes Princeton high was on lockdown as well as primary and middle school. Heard this info from a CPS worker. They receive the calls when a child was involved. So don't believe everything you see on the news. Chances are they hardly ever have it right.

Honestly, I don't know if it was true or not but I am glad that it was taken serious anyway. You never know and I don't trust our school board as far as I could throw them. So, I wouldn't be surprised that this was kept hidden if true. But I think that's BS if it is being hidden. Parents of these children/kids have a RIGHT to know the truth. I for one will raise pure hell if that EVER (God forbid) happens at my childs school and it's kept from me.

I agree. My daughter was at the school. I went and got her. My other daughter was at the middle school. She called me worried about her sister. I was pissed. But I've confirmed with other people in the school systems as well it WAS true. Unbelievable. :(

How did you pick her up? Even the primary school was locked down! A few people I know tried to pick their kids up and the school refused to release them. I could hardly believe it!

I don't know what's going on, but I'd better not find out that the school board is perpetrating a cover-up! As much as they would like to think otherwise, they don't own our children and we have a right to know everything that goes on within those walls when it comes to their safety!

I'm glad you feel that way. I wish I could say the same. I do NOT trust Debra Akers or our police officers to keep anyone safe. PSHS was held up years ago so how can you say that Mercer County is the safest school system?!? I'm sorry I TOTALLY disagree. There have been more bomb threats than I can even count. I can't wait to get my children out of there.

I'm sorry I don't get what you are trying to say with your first sentence. Dr. Akers has made PLENTY of mistakes. I'm surprised she has held her position as long as she has. I DON'T HAVE A CHOICE BUT TO SEND MY CHILDREN TO SCHOOL... THE LAST I CHECKED IT WAS A LAW! You obviously are involved with the school or law by your comments. That's fine... you believe that they are saints, most of us KNOW different. Just for your information... no I haven't had to call them (THANK GOD) and I pray I never have to because I'm probably screwed.

People can still do dangerous things with cops around, just ask a cop and they'll tell you!

The lock downs apparently weren't intended to keep people from getting IN but to keep people from getting OUT. They were locked down so that they could search. Kids could have been locked inside with a psycho!

An excuse for kids to go home? Hearing reports of a possible shooter is NOT an excuse. It is a darn good REASON! Only a total idiot wouldn't be worried about their child in that situation!

I'm glad that you have so much confidence in our school system, but come on! There is nowhere that is perfectly safe and decent parents are right to worry sometimes. You just never know!

Talking about this issue is important. I don't see how it's going to "fuel for the fire for another dumb a$$ to try to be famous." Should we all just play stupid and ignore it? Besides, I don't know that the people who commit shootings even want to be famous. Most of them kill themselves before the stories even hit the news. They're psychopaths with the potential to cause great harm, and avoiding talking about it won't just magically cure them, will it?

Cops can be great but they aren't miracle workers! They can't always stop bad things from happening or fix every problem. I'm sure most of them would if they could, but at the end of the day they're human just like everybody else.

In a bad situation, yeah, I'm going to call the cops. They're trained better than me and legally allowed to do more to solve a problem than I am. But I'm still going to worry, and I'm still going to take whatever other measures that I need to in order to keep myself and my family safe. Calling the cops or having them around doesn't put some kind of magical bubble around you, you know.

It's not about trust. It's just about facing the facts.

I couldn't pick them up til after they were released from Lockdown. I didn't even know about it til after. I just had a baby so I wasn't watching much TV. As soon as I heard I sent my husband to get the kids. That same time my youngest called me from the middle school very scared. Even though the lock down was over I wasn't taking any chances. And we found out later that night it was true.

I also got good information it was true. Wvva denied any trouble I absolutely have a picture of the inside of the school where there was at least 10 troopers. On the outside 22 cop cars troopers and deputies. Students were told they faced charges for any media that left the school showing the lock down. What were they hiding.? I figure they are scared that parent panic would kill their attendance. I know kids who witnessed the arrest at MCTECH they searched every student who entered the school. They also was searching the students cars. But once the day began police presence was gone they left an unarmed security guard with a wand metal detector. It's scary but school must continue maybe they can find a home use for our military men and women. Instead of rent a cops have trained soldiers in our schools. Not a bad idea just bad it has to come to that. But we have natl guard and reserves locally why not use them.

How do you know it's not true? And even if they didn't find any weapons, how is everyone so sure that whatever threat the schools heard about was just a rumor?

I'd appreciate a little more information here because this whole thing has been very hush hush. That alone makes me concerned.
