Depends on the department. i worked in the fab shop and i tell you now, do not even think of gettin on there, unless you are just desperate. karol tibbs ( the foreman) is a pure idiot. Ran a company up north and let it go under, now doing the same at Connweld. Before i quit he had fired 40+ people in a year. Most of those were hard workers, family men. Tibbs prides himself for being a 'hard man' but the only thing hard is the ability for him to walk. The other departments are fairly easy to work for. Id try other companies first. Downards is hiring.

Tibbs claims he fires so many because they fail drug tests. A friend of mine is thinking of applying there..so as far as you know..what are the other reasons he fired those men?

Connweld does not do random drug screens. You get one screening at time of employment. If he has told anyone that it is a pure lie. I remember one person being fired for a legitimate reason and that was stealing time. Others were made up reason, pure bs. He accused two people of falsifying workers comp claims. I left on my own terms, so im not a bitter employee making up garbage. If other employees see this post they will back me up.

100% agree Cornfed, it's one of the worst places to work around here. All I heard everyday was We pay you men good money to work here. You better be glad you have a job here cause no one else will pay you more than we do, blah blah blah. I also left on my own terms. Found a job that pays me twice as much. If you aint in the good old boy network there then you are just plain screwed.

Conn-weld used to be a decent place to work about 15 years ago. They required mandatory overtime for years working a lot of their best employees out of the company. Some left because of the hours, others left after becoming disabled.

It's now filled with drug addicts and pill poppers. Narcotic pain killers are passed around like candy. Random drug tests never happen even though they say they are a drug free work zone.

Plan on being treated like an animal and have fun with drug addicts working in potentially dangerous conditions.

there are no drug test there only when you get hired. he probably fired them cause they dont belong to the druggie or good ole boys club

I cant believe that Karol Tibbs likes to pride himself on how many people he has fired. He doesn't know how to run a department because of previous experience. Took a whole company down. Personally you can't run a shop with an iron fist and that is what he is doing. They need to do something really fast before something happens. Workers should not be working the way they do if a single man gets rid of an entire shift. More would get done without exhausting anyone to do it. Tired and exhausted workers results an carelessness and on the job accidents.

Currently employeed at Conn-Weld and the answer would be HELL NO, unless you are just desperate for a job. Karol Tibbs, the supervisor over the FAB shop is on a HUGE power trip.He has fired over 45 people in his short time being employeed at Conn-Weld, some of which was there for over 20 years. He has gotten rid of most of the top paid people because he says the only way he can get people to work is to hold their raises. His 2 guard dogs so to say Ron Foster and Robbie Williams is hell on wheels. They are the ones telling Karol who to fire. Don Farmer is not much better. He is the head of the machine shop. If it wasnt for these 4 people it actually wouldnt be to bad of a place to work. It just so happens though that these are 4 supervisors that can really make it or break it for you there.

I wouldn't work there again if they begged!!! I worked there for over 15 years and was fired because I had 3 days off WITH a Dr's excuse!!! Karol is doing nothing but running that company in the ground. I heard he had 30 days to turn the company around and if things didn't get better HE was fired!!! They treat you like you are scum. Nothing is important but the almighty $$$$$! Forget about the hard working employees that put in years of work. They are simply not worth Conn Weld's time! I wouldn't suggest my dog working there for a crippled up Oompa-Loompa reject!! My opinion is to look elsewhere for a job where a company will treat you like a human being. Family morals is out of the window, they want to know if family is more important than their job!!! Who says that and can sleep at night!!! Slowly but surely that company is reaping what they have sowed!!! And I am lovin every minute of it!!! My life is sooooooo much easier now that I do not have to drive up that hill!! Oh, and the benefits, SUCK!!!!!!!!!!

Oh and by the way...I was fired over missing 3 days of work with a Dr's excuse...but I know that one supervisor (Robbie Williams) took 7 months off work, went hunting and fishing, rode 4-wheelers and blamed it all on his "sugar". But now that he is buddies with Karol and drinks with him EVERY weekend he's ok, and his job is safe!!! I told my wife that if I ever got hurt up there to demand a drug test of any individual that may have been involved!!!! On the other hand, wonder how Robbie's "sugar" is holding up now with him getting drunk every weekend?????

Does the dumb ass not know that even if he fires an employee that employee can still draw unemployment? So either way they are still able to feed their familys. Pretty much what I'm saying is Conn-Weld has already paid into unemployeement so either way they are still paying them, weather it be for them up there working in an extremely HOT building that IS NOT well ventalated or stitting at home on their pretty little asses in the air condtioning, only thing they are not benifiting from still working there is the health insurance. And trust me the health insurance up there SUCKS!! Only problem with the employees that have worked there for many years getting fired is loosing the 401K they can always have that rolled over and still use it years later for retirement or cash it in and start a new 401K over at their next job when they get one. Sounds to me like this "firing happy prick" is ruining what "use" to be a good company. Oh and dont EVEN get me started on that stupid Bltch Randa in the office if she spent half the time actually working insteading of playing on facebook all day the employees up there would'nt have so many mistakes on their paychecks. But then again thats a whole new Topix. LOL

my boyfriend has been working there for 12 1/2 years and connweld has always been good to him. His department works more over time then any other area of the plant. His name is William Jones anyone know him??
