disappointed and angry

I am very disappointed and angry with Mercer County Animal Shelter. I seen first hand that they still need someone who knows what they are doing to run it. The woman who is running it cares more about what she looks like than the animals. They were more worried about getting fitted for uniforms pants than they were for helping some people in there trying to adopt an animal. They don't need uniforms, thats money that could go to our poor defensless animals. They wear green shirts to identify they are workers. They can wear jeans. Uniforms is wasted money. Guess what? The County Commissioner was there when all of this was going on. You need someone out for the animals and not for themselves. It was clear to me that was what was going on. The one head over the shelter needs to learn that or go on. They worry about doing home visits but can't run a shelter properly. You have to be for the amimals 100 percent. They were animals so scared they would run and hide. Apparently they are not working with these animals at all. You have to do that everyday. I know you have to be picky about adopting to the right person. What I seen, these animals are going to put down before they get adopted out. New shelter, new paint, new kennels dont mean nothing to an animal that has run out of time. Instead of paying for uniforms, pay for an animal to live another day. That is what is important. I am so upset with Mercer County Animal Shelter. They need to clean house with their employees and start again. Did I tell you the county commissioner was there this same day. I wanted to bring every animal home with me and away from there. Believe me if I had the money it would have been done. If only I could win the Lottery, I would clean house FOR THE ANIMALS and no one would have to be put down just because their adoption time has run out. It breaks my heart. They don't have a voice there for them, they just have bodies running around who don't have a clue.

What pisses me off so bad about that shelter is the fact that they kill them if not adopted. In my opinion, the strays they pick up off the streets, they kill if not adopted.Ok, so why didn`t they just leave them on the streets?Seems to me they`d have a better chance out on the street than to go to a shelter where you know they`ll die.

The Animal shelter is a joke!!! I used to take food blankets and money to them until I saw them in action! I went there a paid the adoption fee for 2 animals a dog and a cat for someone who had a good home but not enough money to pay to be able to go in and give an animal a good home, I was standing in the big dog room when a couple was interested in a dog but said they could pay the fee! Stacy the bit^h that runs the place told em to come back when they had money! WTH was my money used for? Certainly not why i gave it! Then I volunteered up there and a lady brought in 2 beautiful collies she stated if they could not find homes please call her she would come back and get them but dont put them to sleep!!! She walked out the door they put both dogs down when she called later to check on them they told her they went to a good home! In one day they put down 30 animals! Then i went to adopt a animal they said they would have to check my yard the little retarded bastard David never showed up to check then when i called the next day they said david said you didnt have enough of a yard I live on 5 acres of land the 1 acre around my house is completely fenced! Then they said it dont matter now the dog you wanted died yesterday!!! THAT PLACE NEEDS CLOSED OR RUN BY NEW PEOPLE!!! Jay Mills needs put OUT!!!

This shelter has had problems for a long time, I don't know if there was ever a time that it seemed to have its act together. A few years ago, there was a dog and two of her puppies running around my house. The mother had a chain on her and it was obvious that she had broken loose from someone. I took the dogs to the shelter so they could hold them for the owner if he came looking. The mother was obviously a full blooded animal, the pups were not. I knew if the owner did not show up, the mother would be taken by a rescue group. I told the shelter, that if the owner did not show up, I would like to take at least one of the pups. I asked how long would they keep them for the owner to reclaim them before I could take the pup. They gave me a weird look and acted like they did not believe what I was telling them.(Maybe they thought these were my dogs, but if they were, it would not make sense for me to tell them I wanted to adopt one of them). At any rate, they told me the dogs would not be released before seven days. I went back to check on them five days later. They had already given the mother to a rescue group and both pups were listed as available for adoption. They did not hold the dogs for a certain amount of time at all; they made them all available as soon as I had left. So if the owner did come looking for them, he would not have found them. I knew then, that if I had to do it all over, I would not have trusted the shelter, but kept the dogs myself and advertised in the "found" section of the paper. Fortunately, by going back early, I did get one of the pups. That was several years ago and that pup is now a seven year old, 80 pound mutt sleeping on the couch beside me as I type this post.

I wonder if they're really putting animals to sleep or sending them to labs for experimenting.

Wonder if they have any sheep that I can adopt?
I'll take great care of it. I'll even let it watch the nascar races with me. I don't have a very large yard here at the trailer park and my daddy says I have to start using lube because it's easier on the sheep's butthole.
I'm going to love it and squeeze it and play with it and call it george.

Thanks for the compliment. My mother says I'm special. She spends a lot of time at work (she's a stripper) and we don't see her much. Sometimes, a nice police officer will give her a ride home. We bathe her and put some clean clothes on her, daddy gives her some medicine and she's fine for a day or two.
As you can tell, it can be lonely for a young man around the trailer park.
I guess that's where my love for animals comes from.
I ask for everyone to please be tolerant when you meet someone who's a little different. You never know what that person has been through.

It burns me up everytime i go in there. Whoever appointed the woman over that must have been an idiot. Everybody there needs to go. They turn the phones off at quittng time because they are afraid they will have to stay over to talk to someone. The animals have no one. It is sad.

I wouldn't want them wondering the streets either though. I wouldn't want one to bite or attack a child or an adult for that matter or spreading disease. Unfortunantly there isn't enough resources here and some pet owners are negligent. They don't keep their animals vaccinated, they let them wonder around the neighborhood or woods and they end up mating, hence all of the drop offs. It is a sad situation all together!
