I was there recently and in the emergency room there was dust and dirt under the chair, they have really let housekeeping go in that hospital. It really is a shame the condition it has gotten into.

I agree; Many do an adequate job but the few who don't care are a serious risk to anyone in need of being admitted. My experiences with the ER were very good; then it all goes downhill. One mistake after another and cover ups all the time. The nurses are so busy sniping at one another, they don't pay attention to what the patient needs. They hate the circumstances of their jobs and as a result, some of them take it out on one another and the poor unsuspecting patients. I've sat with four relatives lately and the 3rd floor is pitiful. If that is the best they can do, then they do need to close it. These few nurses are dangerous to our loved ones.

You go to a car dealership....get your car worked on....you pay the bill to get your car back...no problem.
You go to Outback...you eat dinner,,,,you pay...no problem
You go to the 7-11 and buy a carton of cigarettes and a case of budweiser,,,,you pay...no problem
You connect Direct TV...you pay...no problem...
You go to WalMart and buy a couple hundred bucks for groceries...no problem
You go to Exxon...buy a tank of fuel...no problem
You are asked to be responsible for your bill at the Doc's office or the hospital.....or make arrangements to be responsible for your bill....and you whine like hell.... Hmmmmm....

You need to take some responsibility for yourself and quit blaming the hospital for being the bad guy...
ANY BUSINESS HAS TO LOOK OUT FOR THEMSELVES!!! NO ONE CAN DO BUSINESS FOR FREE!!! SOMEONE HAS TO PAY!!!
You know better!!

And PS...We are ALL going to take your word for it that you "knocked your back outta whack".. I am sure you wouldnt put on here that there was nothing wrong with you. And I am sure if you "knocked your back outta whack", that wasnt your fault either...and am willing to bet it wasnt from working!

Nurse Good Body, you hit the nail right on the head and it is bound to sting for the guilty parties. These people apparently think that the people that work in Hospitals work for free and all the equipment and supplies are free. The emergency rooms of Hospitals are so busy treating a buch of dead beat drug addicts the the people in need of medical attention are not given the immediate attention that they need but that is not the Hospitals fault. They should be able to push durg addict overdoses aside until all the other patients are taken care of then they can look at them.

You see...thats where you are WRONG.
You have mistaken the hospital for the "Hand out Line"
Your all happy when the golden fleece is handed out, but, when someone calls a spade a spade you start this same old rhetoric.
I guess next comment is that ""People like that need to change jobs""" and ....lets see...."""YOU NEED TO HAVE MORE SYMPATHY"""
so, see...I have saved you the trouble. Bottom line is quit blaming everyone else for your problems...and grow up and be responsible.

When one does all that you have listed below you are talking about a couple hundred of dollars, when was the last time you were in the hosptial, you can't go through the ER for less than a thousand.Bluefield Regional does not make payment plans on new accounts, this hospital is strictly for profit..this story comes from an employee that works in admitting, she has a gentleman that was having back pains and trouble with his kidney's , he needed a CT scan and they would not do it until he came up with 3000.00 for test and the doctor...she hated telling him that and was saddened even more when the man said he couldn't do that because his wife had cancer and they barely got buy ..How sad..we can help 3rd world countries but we can't help our own...

wrong! I'm calling you on it. You go to Brmc and before you get your product/service they want money...... You finally get service; and it sucked!, you get an account that you have 30 days to pay in full or it gets turned to collections. All of the services and products you mentioned many people have money for. Most of our community does not have thousands for a one time event and god bless you if you have several health issues. Go to PCH, you can make low monthly payments for as long as needed and workers don't get laid off.

Call me on it all you want, I have no problem with it.
I do know about healthcare.
There are a few things that people are missing out on.
First...they recieve reimbursement from the state and the government so they have to see people...
If you have an EMERGENCY...they HAVE to treat and stabilize you regardless of whether you can pay..
Second..they have the only trauma designation in Mercer/Wyoming/Mcdowell area so they HAVE to see Trauma patients whether they can pay or not. They have to stabilize them. They cannot just turn them away. That was where EMTALA laws came from.
As far as whether the service was crappy or not, I cannot argue that point.

For all these services, I can get my money back if not satisfied , it should be the same with healthcare. I have been misdiagnosed several times. Seven years of incapacitating diarrhea that three primary care doctors, five colonoscopies, and two GI doctors couldn't solve. My nightmare finally ended when I picked up a copy of all my records when moving. I found the cause in my labs. I was positive for H-pylori. After moving to another state, I took my labs to a new doctor, was treated, and the nightmare was finally over.
