well Lets see where do I start. The hospitall has gone to hell and there is no one that will do anything that anyone wants to do. I was at the hospital for over 5 hours with a friend tonight and it took them that long to give him one pill and that was only after he through up all in the floor. Then the nurse went and told the Doctor that I was yelling at her but I didn't raise my voice to her so she lied. That was when we got the Doctor back in the room finely.
I would never take a dead dog to that hospital thats just how bad it has gotten. It's not fit for anyone or anything peroid. The just need to close the doors and give up.They are more worried about a DRUNK than people that are really in need of help. They thought that the DRUNK was so funny that they just had to stand in his room and listen to him. The only people that was doing any work there was the nurse that U check in with and the housekeeper and that is really sad for anyone that is in need for real medical help. Got to Blufeild U may get better help there. Or just go to a vet they maybe able to help U better that way.
God Help Anyone that needs help they wont get it at Princeton Hospital

file a complaint with jcah, and see if that helps, think they are in charleston. Look up the address and phone no on the internet. Get the nurses name and file a complaint with the administrator and nursing director. , or you can file a complaint with the state board of nursing in charleston against the nurse, I think what you are talking about is neglect.

You probably just wanted some pain medicine that is usually what people want when they complain and they don't get what they want. The druggies always come in on the weekends.. Get a life

Princeton Community Hospital is NASTY! I dont know what on earth is going on there but that place is NOT clean anymore! The rooms are nasty and the bathrooms are NASTY. It doesnt even smell like a hospital should. The bed rails are NASTY and I am afraid to touch them. The houskeeping department is NOT doing their job and obviuosly noone is checking behind them. No damn wonder people are catching staff infections there!

PCH could use a good cleaning ,but in order to do that they have to have enough housekeepers to keep up th with the work load, just like they need enough Good cooks to fix better food, and more security and maintenance .
It's not the support staffs fault. You can't expect one or two housekeepers per shift to keep the main lobby, all the bathrooms, all the offices clean in one shift. But the again the bottom line $$$$ is what they see. Bet the bigwhigs offices arent nasty.
I have seen PCH much cleaner and overall the people in those depts work hard and take a lot of heat over trying to do thier jobs the best that they can with what they have.
Maybe the top brass should come down and work with these people and see just how hard it is instead of always looking at the bottom line.
I wonder how much was spent lighting up the flag poles at night? Hmmmm maybe a few extra housekeepers, cooks , security or maintenance guys could have been hired instead?

Yes PCH is a joke, but not a funny one. I don’t go to the hospital much, so PCH is all I have really known over the years. A few years ago I had to go to Raleigh General to have a procedure done. WOW! They are awesome up there. I was used to PCH and their staff acting like I was bothering them by being there. The people were actually nice up there in Beckley. Then a couple years ago I had a family member who was in an accident and PCH sent them to Charleston. WOW AGAIN!! Caring and concerned staff in Charleston too? I was beginning to really question PCH’s competence. This past summer my 5 year old ran into a picnic table and opened up his forehead. We were close to Radford, so we took him to Carillion down there. TRIPLE WOW!!! In and out in no time and the staff was FANTASTIC. In short the staff at PCH is rude, intolerant, slow and really don’t seem to care if a person or even a child sits around for hours waiting on service that it costing the CUSTOMER a fortune to begin with. PCH has got to be the worst hospital that I have EVER been to. I agree with posts above. If anything major is needed for me or my family we will go somewhere else. Heck if it is serious PCH just sends people elsewhere anyway LOL. At best PCH is just a clinic with some hateful employees, because I have never seen a hospital treat people the way that they do.

To Princeton Man, It is very unfair for you to judge PCH as a whole, by treatment that you received in the ER only. I agree that there are probably some people that work in ER that could definately spruce up their bedside manner, however, there any MANY great employees there. Most of the people who have posted on this forum are drug seekers that are pissed because they didn't get the drugs that they wanted. There are so many frequent flyers that come in the ER to drug seek that most of the ER employees are probably burned out.
It is unfair to make these kind of statements and generalizations about the hospital at a whole.
Be glad that PCH knows when to send a patient out to one of the specialty hosptials that specialize in cardiac care and trauma!!! Of course you wouldn't want these services here when you can go a few hours away and see people who are doing these things more frequently and are experts at...Why all the negativity ALL the time???

I agree that PCH ER is a joke. I for one am NOT a pain seeker and have been there on a few occasions and was shocked at the treatment and overall experience. I however have had 2 children in the Womens Center and it was a wonderful experience. I have friends that work some of the floors and also believe in their work. Just Saying is right, you cant judge the entire hospital because their ER department is horrible. Something must have went down pretty bad seeing that they lost their trauma privileges. Again, dont judge the entire hospital from ER, for the staff from other areas of the hospital are ashamed to be associated with them as well.

You are right. I should have said that differently. Like “Another View” I have also had two sons that were born in the women’s center and it really was a great experience. I will apologize for lumping everyone in with the ER. Over the years I have been so frustrated with the PCH ER that whenever anyone mentions PCH that is the first thing that I think about. It is a shame that one department is so bad that is brings down the reputation of the whole hospital. You may be correct in saying that the staff in the ER are burned out, but if this is the case then the really need to find new careers outside of working with the public. Like I stated earlier the ER’s I have had to visit in other hospitals have had very nice courteous nurses and doctors and there is no reason PCH ER personnel shouldn’t treat their patients with the same respect. As for the druggies coming in and pestering them; I do sympathize with them there, I would hate to have to deal with that.

I know exactly how you feel. I automatically have negative feelings when I hear PCH because of the ER but have to remember not to pass judgement as a whole. Especially after hearing employees from other departments say they are ashamed to be associated. You are right, they should find new careers and if not, administration should step in and find new employees. For those employees (Im sure there are some) that do work there and do your jobs and do it well and care, I am most sympathetic for you and the fact that the others are bringing you into their steroetype.

Perhaps pch knows that the E.R. is the first impression people get of the hospital, and just don't care, or else they would clean it up starting with the employees, not all the employees in the E.R. are rude, but the p.A.'s and dr. need to be shuffled to other hospitals and get some new ones in here. Some pa's and dr. have been there so long, they are in a comfort zone, and need to be pulled out to another hospital, I think change is good.

All good comments. But don't judge the whole hospital by a few lazy, insensitive employees including dr's and pa's.
There are some excellent employees at PCH and some of us work really extra hard and pick up the slack. The real problem is that we don't get appreciated enough. We used to have company picnics but now that faded away to a cookout in the parking lot and guess who has to work it. Yep you guessed it the staff, maintenance, cafeteria, housekeeping and security and just maybe a few managers and supervisors. Yeah and the annual awards banquet its better.
Back to the rude staff. one should say something to the staff at the point when they are rude PLUS report them in writing to the manager and ask for a written response.I know there is a number to call but even I wonder if it is followed up on or this topic wouldn't be happening. We all hear about customer service, customer service customer service and like I said some of us try really hard to give execellent care so we would like to hear it too.
PCH is still a good place. Caring and Quality should start at the top.
It's not always about the bottom line and the employees need to REALLY FEEL that we are appreciated. That may help turn around the atmosphere.

Just so you know, PCH has some of the best Doctors and PA's in this area. As an employee of theirs, I strongly recommend our hospital for the concern, respect, and dedicated employees that we have there.

PCH has a horrible ER. I went in a few years ago because I'd broken my arm, it was broken bad mind you. And I was in a lot of pain. They made me sit in the ER for 3 hours before they saw me. And when I did go back, they x-rayed me, said it was broken and then gave me tylenol of all things. I mean really?

Once not so long ago, I got Bell's Palsy. I went to PCH ER when I realized something was wrong. I was in there about 5 hours, and during that time I saw the doctor for 12 seconds, to give me prescriptions for the way home. During the time I didn't see the doctor, I laid there, was sent to CT, and had my blood pressure taken twice when I got there and before I went home. While they were correct in what was wrong with me, the filth seen all over that hospital was shameful. I think they should knock the hospital down, and start over, or finally hire the correct amount of staff to take proper care of PCH.

It amazes me that the employees of PCH attempt to prove what a wonderful facility they work at by calling everyone who complaines a druggie. Great arguement. I'm sure that will make a lot of people want to come to PCH when in need of help! I have no doubt that a lot of drug seekers go to the ER, but that doesn't mean that when you get called out for being rude, disrespectful, and uncaring that the person was a druggie.

Then I bet they referred you to a orthopedic Dr. who you could not see for quite a while. A hospital should have an orthopedic on call who can do a closed reduction or whatever at that time, instead of making you wait..call Jcah . Better yet, go to the newspaper with these problems, or call administration and see why they can't have an othopedic on call when needed for emergency's.
