I got married outside and had the reception at the elks in princeton after and it was great big room bar and huge dance floor the only thing is you have to use them to cater to but the food was amazing....Also a friend of mine got married in glenwood park it was pretty there on the back side... I got married on a farm...My cousin got married in pipestem state park and it was pretty there too...

There was a piece on the news back in the summer about someone building a gazebo in honor of a loved one in hopes that people would be married there...i'm thinking it was either in bluewell or glenwood...

i love weddings:) my sister is getting married in 2 weeks. i agree about the glenwood park thing, i think the gazebo is there too. i remember seeing a small wedding there in a area between the lake and the nursing home, but from my angle the background was mostly the trees and vegetation, and what little bit i seen was beautiful. i would suggest driving around on some back roads one weekend, looking at fields or churches or any open place and find out who owns it if you find a spot you love. then see if they would allow a ceremony there, who knows, it may end up being free! as far as the reception goes, if yor guest number is smalll a wopuld go with a banquet hall somwhere like the elks, or the 4h camp at glenwood, or maybe even a conference room or something at one of the motels around here. i also like the pipestem and pinnacle rock ideas, that would be beautiful with the fall colors! best of luck to you!!

The gazebo at glenwood pk is a great place for a wedding and pictures are also a big plus there. The 4-H building is ok if you are ready to do a lot of decorating. Another place would be the Diana Lee house in Bluefield. It is a perfect spot for a outdoor ceremony if you are not having a large number of guest. Under 50 would be the best for that. Also the Jerry Bowling house of Art in Bluefield has a great banquet hall for a reception. Only decor you have to do is tables.

thanks to all of u so much! I had actually looked into the Gazebo at Glenwood the other day and it is beautiful there! Does anyone know anything about having a reception at the Chuck Mathena Center? I had heard they are pretty expensive and their website is under construction. PCLADY...what is the Diana Lee house?

You may want to check out Daniels Vineyard near Beckley. They have beautiful facilities for an outdoor wedding as well as a reception area. We looked at several locations in the area and we felt they were the best.

If the mathena center is too pricey, try the magnolia room.

the magnolia room is a nice place if you have less than 20 ppl. they dont have very good parking, and its basically the living room/dining room of an older house just off mercer street that was converted to a brunch type thing. dont get me wrong, it has its own charm... but not for the reception of a wedding....

It is a bit expensive, 1,000 for the facility for the day, that includes the deck, gazebo and pavilion for the reception. Depending upon your plans and what you intend to do it may be less expensive than renting a place for the wedding and then renting a place for the reception. Another option is the old spa and houses at Salt Sulpher Sprins near Union, The Farmer estate. The Unon Chamber of Commerce has the phone number. Good luck

I just got married this past summer and had my reception at Concord University in the ballroom. They require you to use their catering company but the food is great!! It has plenty of room and it cheap. It's only $125 to rent which when you check around you will find its cheap.

Isn't there a big white house on Hale Ave that is now a bed and breakfast? It looks beautiful, would be a nice location for an outdoor wedding!

Daily Horoscope for January 4

Leo

Even though you usually pride yourself on being the strong silent type, love has a way of unlocking your tongue. The words coming out of your mouth may be familiar, but your sense of timing makes all the difference right now. Keep in mind that you never know how a risky gesture will work out, although you can always hope for the best. When in doubt, take the more cautious path.
