Okay I'm gonna throw out a question that I'm sure will get a lot of heat. Does anybody go to either of the pain clinics in Beckley? The reason I ask is because I have degenerative disc and joint disease. I suffer daily with pain and sometimes am lucky to get back and forth to the bathroom. I have had one knee replacement and will be having the other one done in July. I also have a bulging disc in my back between L4 and L5 that has really limited my mobility the last couple months. My family physician says there is nothing she can do for me. I have been to a Neurosurgeon who says surgery would do more harm than good on my back and my insurance will not pay for a Chiropractor. I am getting desperate to find some form of relief. I have been on anti-inflamatory's, steroids, ultram (which didn't do a thing but make me sick), moist heat, exercising and using the warm therapy pool. Anybody with information, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

I have bad back issues as well, and my insurance doesn't pay for a chiropractor either, i went one time and paid the fee, and i haven't been back. My back has hurt more after i went than it did before. I was thinking about going to a neurosurgeon myself to get some relief, but if you didn't get any help then i am sure i will not either. I have tried all kinds of these heat patches and things, and i have tried ultram as well, but still nothing takes the pain away. My back hurts 24/7 i have 5 places in my lower back on my spine rotated, and 3 in my neck. Plus i have a slight curve in the middle of my spine, and my right hip is slightly higher than my left. The only thing that has come close to helping in any way is a loratab. I don't do pills like that, i hate taking pills honestly but i took one one night and had so much relief that night, but you can't find anyone willing to write you something like that. But all these people who don't need it can get it.

I have had Back surgery a spinal fusion l4 l5 and S1 it didn't do anything but make it worse . I now have a ruptured disk in my neck and I am facing another fusion . I went to the pain clinic before dr. Rod walked out and if the question you are asking is will he give Narcotics for the pain thEn you will get them . He does give meds that take the pain away .

Yep, you can thank all the damn pillbillies for you not getting anything. The doctors are scared to write even for legitimate cases.

Exactly ! There are a lot of people who find a doctor and get pills and then sell them or abuse them and then there are those who legitimately need them and can't find help anywhere. It's so aggravating and discouraging.

I have chronic pain also and believe me, I do know what you are going through. The pain clinic will give you pain meds. When they were open before they would't give you any the first visit but after that they will. Get all xray, mri, ct scans, all records from doctors you have seen. They may ask you to mail those before your visit or bring with you. I've been told by many specialist there is nothing they can do for me. It has been a nightmare living in this body since 2000. The pain meds along with the steroid and anti-inflammatory meds will help dull the pain. Nothing will stop it. I could go on & on saying what all is wrong with me. Idk about you, but I developed depression and chronic anxiety from living in pain, so I pray for you to get some help. My back won't let me ride to Beckley and back so I thank God for my doctor every day. Be sure and take your meds the way you are suppose to and never take nothing your dr doesn't prescribe for you, they will do drug test off and on. You start hurting really bad and you think taking a little more will help, it won't. Then you run yourself short. Good luck to you.

My mom is nearly 80. Has been on pain meds for over 15 years then her MD cut her off cold turkey. No warning. No referral. Nothing. This state sucks!!!!!!!!!
