What happened at the ballgames Saturday and Sunday? Sounds like they got whipped pretty good. We run the league, we pick the schedules, we just cant beat Peterstown or Bluefield....Why is that? They dont have near the amount of players that we do to choose from.

Coaching could be an issue??? There seems to be something to that by looking at the difference between the east and west squads in points scored and their records. My son is a running back on the minutemen pee wee team this year and I'll say there was a huge difference in playing raiders west and playing the chargers. The chargers were a very well prepared and very disciplined football team and they beat us fair and square. While I believe that the raiders east kids gave 100%, they didn't seem to have that discipline. Don't get me wrong, that doesn't fall on the kids, that falls squarely on the coaching staff. Don't think I'm bashing coaches because I'm not, all I can speak from is personal experience. Our coaches took kids who were as green as they come, my son included, and made them football players. Looking at purely the coaching and training ability, Mike Dicker and Tom Lankford are the best coaches in the WVVA Southern Mountain Football League, period. Kids respond well to good coaching and thats a proven fact.

IT MAY HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE RAIDERS SPLITTING THEIR KIDS UP SO ALL THE KIDS GET THE OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY, WHEN THE RAIDERS WERE ONE TEAM THEY DOMINATED THE LEAGUE.

Good Coaches L.O.L.The Minutemen Pee Wees started the season with 38 players and ended the season with 24,the coaches ran off 14 kids so they would have a better chance to win.The FOOTBALL Gods showed them that they had done the kids wrong by making them loose to the Chargers.I heard that the Minutemen had the game won but that great coach Mike Dicker wanted one more T.D. and they fumbled the ball and the Chargers went on to score and beat them.

I cant say that i disagree with thinning out the heard. You dont have a choice. 38 players playing 5 plays per half.....you wouldnt even get a first down. Now how is that fair to the kids that really want to be out there and really want to win. When i was in little league, if you didnt start the only time you played was if we were killing someone or someone was killing us.
Now i am not sure which is right, there is an arguement for each. Bottom line, there is no way to compete in this league with 38 players.
To the poster above,,,,,, if you didnt split your teams you would not get a first down.

Acually we ended with 27, but who is counting. As for "running off" kids, I dont really know why they left. All kids are good at something but it might not necessarily be football. Could it be that some of these kids decided that football wasn't for them? I don't know and I would say that nobody actually knows except for the kids. I noticed your name as "Ex Minutemen Parent". I dont know if your child was on the team and isn't for some reason now or if maybe they are older and at the jr. high or something but it kind of sounds like you have an ax to grind with Mike. I can't speak for him personally because I don't know him personally and I'm not taking up for him persoanally, I'm just saying that I saw how my son got better almost with each and every practice and that is due to coaches taking time and working with him and teaching him. I don't know what all was said or done on the practice field but I can say this, my son has the utmost respect for Mike and Tom. My son was anything but a good football player when the season started so I can say that if anyone would have been "run off" it certainly would have been him. As for the game, you heard mostly right. We were up by 6 and we did fumble the ball and the chargers did score and we did lose the game. I don't know why Mike made the calls he did at the end of the game anymore than anybody else does. Maybe it was to score another touchdown, maybe not, I don't know. All I know is we had a good season, I'm proud of our boys, we'll try it again next year and I hope Peterstown and the Chargers have great games on Saturday.

Chargers deserve to be where they are. I didn't see the Peterstown games. They won so I guess they do to. The Charger Coaches simply outcoached the Minutemen PeeWee coaches. Mr. Dicker did the dumbest thing a coach could ever do. Run a play that was not necessary. Anytime you do that most of the things that can happen are bad. His team was better than the Chargers but his coaching was a pitiful mess. His assistants should have been screaming at him to take a knee. I would have thought that Mr. Lankford would have called a time out and stopped that from happening. The Raider Midget West suffered a similar fate. The Charger Midget Coaches benefited from dumb coaching on the part of the Raider Coaches. They quit running a play before the Chargers stopped it. Congrats to the Chargers and the Pirates. With the exception of last years midget championship for the Chargers and Peterstowns peewee championship, it has been a long dry spell for both. prediction: peewee-chargers by 12, midgets-pirates by 6.

It is my understanding that all the kide must play 5 plays by league rule, as for thinning out the herd you never know which kid may grow up to be a great player. Please remember that Micheal Jordan got cut from the jr. high basketball team, that coach and Mike Dicker have a lot in common!!!!

I don't disagree with the charger pee wee team being where they are. They played and excellent game on Saturday. I'll be honest with you, I was suprised at the stamina of the Charger team. I thought with the way we were rotating players into the game that it would wear them down but they just kept on playing hard. As for calling a time out, there wasn't one to call. We were out of time outs early in the half. In reguards to your predictions, I think the charger pee wee team will win more like 22-6. I don't know about the midgets because I haven't seen either one play. Best of luck to both teams in both games this weekend.

No time outs, throw a rock. Mr. Dicker lost the game just like the Raider West Midget coaches lost their game. But then, coaching is a part of the game. I hope the peewee and midget games are competative and like you wish them both luck.

Ahhh, now it's starting to make sense. By saying "Mike Dicker being there" sounds like you might be part of another team? Raiders maybe? I've heard all the stuff about Mike last year but it's really none of my business and to honest, I could really care less. As I've plainly stated before, I don't take up for Mike personally because I don't know him personally. He could be a dirty, rotten low life for all I know but what he does off the football field isn't any of my business. As for the "shame on you" thing, I don't really understand what that's all about. It dosn't really make any sense if you look at my posts. And to answer your question, no I'm not a "player" and I find it kind of strange that this has turned personal. Hmmmm, I'm not really sure about all of that but I will say that I wish your child the best of luck on whatever team or sport they choose because it's really all about the KIDS anyway.

Nice to hear someone finally say that the Raiders run the league and pick the schedules. Maybe the reason the teams lose is something called KARMA. Princeton does everything possible to put things at their advantage but it doesn't always work. The league president is part of the Raiders organization and when Stacy and Sam say jump he says how high.

I personally as a coach in the organization would rather my kids and teams play fair and lose every game then cheat and win every game. There is that old saying about a tangled web and deceiving ....Karma. Better luck next year.

A lot of if's and buts. Bottom line I know all of the people mentioned, even the one posting for the minutemen, Yes your son came on and if I am right wound up running the ball a good bit. I have always set back and watched things. I can also tell that EX-Minutemen may be ex but long before Mike was there, probaly a tie to the Raiders(pretty sure of that too). Mike and Tom done an excellent job, there are others in the league that are there for the kids as well. Look at Pikeview and Dale Roberts for example, Bottom Line no one is perfect, alot of reliving goes on but what happened did just that it happened. The other thing to remember most of these views (such as Ms. EX) carries over and causes Princeton to loose a lot of Glenwood Kids and There lies the problem at PSHS. As far as Mike and Tom Work harder and show the non believers. You guys are great and this league rocks compaired to the other one with one hand picked team and two others. It is no doubt that most of the Minutemen and Pikeview are far above the rest in what matters (the kids). I will say that from what I saw the some of the Minutemen Midget coaches should take lessons. Again they are not perfect, The Raiders have long got ther way in the league,
