Obama didn't do this. It's about time this destructive, senseless, unethical industry comes to a close. Even your elected leaders can't fight this.

Sure, there are thousands of jobs at stake but it is nobody's fault but their own that they became reliant on a business that only destroys lives and the environment.

Well, aren't you just a fine example of West Virginians, begging for pity from the future while the rest of the world leaves immoral corporate profit-driven planetary destruction in the past. Nobody will have mercy on a state that insists on living in the 1930's. "B-b-b-but it's all we have!!! Waaaaaah!" Fuck you. Start developing new industries where those coal digging skills might come in useful or watch as the rest of the country evolves.

Both of you are probably on welfare. Coal jobs pay your free ride on welfare so you better hope it stays. Conner mt was a shithole before mining started.

Guessing, assuming, desperately wanting to believe, that we are part of a demographic you hate does not change the fact that strip mining is IMMORAL.

And your defense of an immoral industry tells me that you, personally, are immoral.

No, I'm not on welfare. No, I didn't vote for Obama. No, I'm not a hippie. I give 40% of my paycheck every two weeks to things I don't necessarily agree with and I strongly support Patriot's decision to end their highly controversial business practices.

Finally- are you against underground mining or just surface mining?

Also are you against the immoral forestry industry that cuts down miles of defenseless trees and leaves total destruction in it's aftermath? Are you against rock quarries that dig the earth and leave devestating holes in mountain sides, fields and other surfaces?

If so, how are we to function in this society without the above mentioned?

If not, what is the point of singling out surface mining when most major resource industries devastate some form or another to extract in from the earth?

Are you suggesting that a functioning, prosperous, industrious nation is worth all that damage?

Trees grow back. Mountains don't. There is such a thing as sustainable timber. Show me a sustainable strip mine.

Are you suggesting we go back to a primitive frontier era?

Sure. Once the coal, oil, and natural gas run out, that's exactly where were headed.

That will not be in our lifetime, not saying its less important to sustain our grandchildren's future.

Maybe our government will spends billions and billions more on failed renewable energy until something comes up.

No thanks. I'll stay here, where I pay taxes and exercise my freedom of speech. I live in West Virginia, went to college and served in the military. That being said, I am against strip mining. But, since we are throwing our opinions out, why don't you leave if you love mining so much? Because you won't be doing it here much longer! See, I don't rely on an industry that's always being scrutinized and comes and goes. I chose to get an education to better prepare myself in life. Anyway, I better to go to work. A lot more people I'm going to have to support on welfare soon.....
