Yeah I agree with the people who say if they can't find what they want here , they will go elsewhere. I would as well. Its up to the local merchants to have the goods you want or need. If they don't ...your not gonna do without .

If Mercer Mall is losing business its because they are ran horrible , have lost the type of stores kids wanna shop at and would rather go to Roanoke.

to quote....
"If you must know I am a social service worker. My spouse is in law enforcement."

So what you are saying is that you and your spouse provide services that are funded by the government. The government is funded by tax revenue. I pay my taxs and thus, I don't have to even consider the police department nor the social services department in Roanoke as even an option. Your logic in that statement is nonsense. Local business depend upon customers, not upon government funding.
By-the-way, I am friends with many law enforcement officers and know a couple people in social service, so I am not implying anything negitive towards those agencies. They are important, but they have no competition in their areas of operation. Local business does.
This will be my last posting on this thread.

Hey you are the one who asked what we did. And my point is this. I would be happy to support local business. I do so in my everyday shopping as does my spouse. However, we ensure our kids as the same things other's have. Its none of you business where we shop. YOU are the one who wanted to know what I did so you could not shop there. Now if I want to shop in Mercer County I will. If they dont have what I want then I will shop whereever I want and its none of your business. (BTW I knew it was not an option for you. I was making a point. People here shop where they want. If local business will make sure they have the goods people want we wont go elsewhere.) And for those of you who are wondering. I wold like to see GAP, Aeropostal, Old Navy and Gymboree(for my younger one) here at this mall. I bet we never see them.

WHAT, do you have something against little kids. I wish most people could have the attitude of a child. Children are sweet. Or are you talking about teenagers?
I was referring to the teenagers and some thats around 10 or 11 the ones that cause all the drama and go there looking for touble not to just hang out and have a good time. the ones that destroy.

I love love kids and I have nothing wrong with them I just think there needs to be some adult supervision on some of these I mean in one night that I went to the mall they had like 4 fights.

The mall just needs to enforce the rule that a kid under 17 is not allowed in the mall without an adult...Mall of america has this and last I heard the mall in Roanoke also has this. Teenagers drive the real shoppers out of the mall. They walk in packs that you force you to walk around them. They cuss and scream and make out at every corner. They are dressed like they are going to a bar and act like it. I refuse to go to the mall on a Friday or Saturday night because of them and I am still in my 20s.

i agree here. I take my kids to the mall because they want to hang out. I let my oldest run up and down with his friends. I sit outside the arcade adn let my youngest play but I never leave. My oldest and middle child is old enough to trust to walk up and down but they know im there. If the do something stupid they also know next time they come momma will walk up and down the mall right behidn them. You would be suprised what a consequence like having you momma watch your every move in front of you friends does for promoting good behavior.

I wish more parents would take the time and do what you do. You should be proud of yourself because I am sure you are raising civilized children.

A friend of mine owns a business at the mall and she says the weekends are horrible with rude teenagers. She was also suprised about all the young girls pushing their babies around in strollers hanging out with their friends. I wonder if there were more adult supervision there teenage daughters wouldn't have babies. I think the malls prices on rent are way to much to get any big stores. I blame management for that. I also agree with the mother who buys her childrens clothes out of town they may be name brand but I believe you get what you pay for. I have a 3year old and she is very rough on clothes i have bought her things from roses/ walmart and other places around and they don't usually last longer than 1 wash and wear. I would rather spend a little more and get clothes that will last longer than a few wears.

Is this mall officially dead or what? No pizza place, no toy store, no bookstore. Aside from empty stores it seems the place is filled with junk and flea market stores. Only a handful of national chains left in there. I heard FYE could be next. I don't see how the place is going to survive much longer. The best place for a shopping mall would be somewhere out near the exit 9 interchange. I think Mercer Mall has reached the end. There's really no reason to go there anymore.
I agree with what you posted.....I go to the K&W to eat then leave.

When the Mall does close the Mall Building will be a perfect place for a Casino...Like Wheeling,WV., Has...

Why do they have to charge so much for rent...It is too hard for people/businesses to make a profit. With high rent being paid for all those years you know the mall has paid for itself. They need to lower the rent or they wont have anyone there.

All the restaurants in Princeton are way better than Bluefield. For example Ryans. They have better Italian places, better Chinese places, A Japanese Steak house,Seafood resturant. Bluefield does a better public park, walmart and shopping.

I actually think that Bluefield is more of a s$%^@#$% than Princeton. Even college ave and all the street connecting it are ghetto and skanky now.
