Kudos to you Princeton Band Member! That was a very respectable post!
My child, who is a midland band member, wrote to topix & asked them to please remove this thread bc it's not an accurate representation of either band & their feelings toward each other. As you can see, it was not removed. Shame on anyone encouraging poor sportsmanship & classless behavior.
GREAT JOB, to ALL the kids!!!

Ok we will give up our props when you give up the Southern Exposure portion of your show. Twenty dollar bills were spontaneously combusting into one's as they gyrated around the field..
What in the world are you talking about?

Once again Cabell Midland slammed the door on the competition. Everything done within the rules, totally neutral judges, neutral field and yes Grand Champions again. What is your excuse this time? Once in a blue moon you will win so learn to lose with a little dignity as well. Worst fans ever are from Princeton and on full display every competition. Extremely rude making comments about all the other bands. Poor, poor, poor sportsmanship. Thank God I am from anywhere but Princeton.
The chances of Princeton losing to Cabell were greater just because Princeton was considered AAA instead of AAAA like you. And you are very hypocritical in your statement by saying Princeton is rude, for that is a pretty rude comment you just made. By the way, Princeton cheers for other bands, they support them, and cheer for them; this shows that you were not at that competition last night because Princeton cheered for several bands.
Come on

<quoted text>You started something you could not back up. Role model? Those people you call fans are slightly one step above roaches. Worst ever, especially that 400 pound man who made fun of every band there. So idiotic, shut up! Fix your own first!
That is just rude and disrespectful. Are fans take a lot of time and hard work to help our band the success that it is. There should not be one human being in the world one step above a "roach" as you call it. Cabell and Princeton both need to be quite, we both are sounding quite stupid.

On the topic of calling out one person and saying he was overweight doesn't give you a right in saying he was a bad person. I read an article a few weeks ago saying that 2 or 3 cheerleaders in California were thrown off the team and had charges on them for making a bad comment on the internet. That is what you just did by saying "that 400 pound man."

I know it isn't just you, and I know that Princeton is making pretty bad comments too. This is why I say, we need to drop this topic.

Once again, I want to tell the PSHS band how proud we are of you. We know how hard you all work and how hard Mrs. Kade works. You gave an awesome performance at Glenville State and the audience appreciated it. I also want to comment on how you were congratulating other bands on their achievements. I am proud to be a supporter of PSHS band. You all are great!!!! Keep up the good work and in my opinion, you are #1 because of your hard work and committment and the behaviour that you exhibit to others. WE ARE PROUD of you and love you!!!!!
Just leave

PROPS to Cabell... Yea you beat us, who cares. We got to practice one day this, we ran our entire show at total of twice this week, once friday during and another at Glenville State. We way have not have won but i do know that every person in the PSHS school band had a great time. Thats all that matters. Even after awards they played their favorite songs and grooves all the way to the bus!!! Both bands are amazing. Both each has their oen unique way of pleading the crowd. Im am apart of the band. Everyone in our band congradulated members of Cabells band after awards also. Just because their is a few bad people in each band doesnt mean we all have to hate each other... Why cant the Princeton-Cabell relationship be like Princeton-Wahama relationship????
wow you guys
<quoted text>The only thing Kade has on Mr James is that she's more masculine than he is, but hell, she's more masculine than Arnold Swarzenegger!

So, she has no staff at all? She's the ONLY staff member you say? I call b.s.

You are quick to compliment Beaver Creek (which is well deserved), but u criticize Cabell for using guitars, etc.
Beaver Creek also uses electronic instruments.

What now?
Mrs. Kade is the only staff member that works with 100+ kids on a daily basis. She loves all of her kids and she does her best and all the kids perform great, and from an intellectual standpoint Princeton is more original, playing music that was NEVER intended to be marched to, they put in all this work and they are just shoved to the wayside because they are from Princeton, where there is legitimate talent, effort, and originality. And most importantly...Heart. But that apparently isn't what MARCHING BAND is about anymore.

Wow! Not sure what to say. Princeton is a very good band, but so is Capital and Cabell. Most music was not written to be marched to and all the bands have legitimate talent.

I agree all bands do have legitimate talent but when shows are not created from the heart, but bought, there is little heart in the show. Because the kids work with their director to come up with their very own, extremely original, 10-13 minute show every year.

Good for you and them. However, don't knock a band whether the show was "bought" or self-written. The kids had to execute it and they did, both Capital and Cabell Midland. It takes that much more for the kids to perform and at least fool the judges that they are playing from the heart. Execution of anything is crucial, bought or not. Just don't bash the kids for your ill contrived opinion. It's not fair to any of the other bands to do so.

Don't people know how to lose with grace and class anymore? Goodness. Every judge has different tastes. Some prefer traditional shows and others like over-the-top crowd pleasers. I was at Tri-State (Marshall) this year, and I got to see Princeton and Midland perform. Princeton played well, but their show didn't "wow" me. As a Midland alumni who marched 4 years under Mrs. Smalley, I'm not a fan of the new director or the show he chose, but I was captivated by the performance they put on that night. But that's just me; I've never been a fan of more traditional shows,'cause that's not what I marched. Everyone can't win everything all the time. When you step on that field and perform your show, you should leave knowing you gave it your all and did the best you possibly could. And if they judges don't agree with you, then so what? Winning is great, but when you know in your heart you left it on the field and had a great time, that's what should matter.

Princeton, Capitol, and Cabell Midland all got superior ratings. They are all good in their own way. I personally prefer marching to all of the props because for me props are a distraction from the marching routine. PSHS band, you make us proud!!!
