For your Information Marshall uses judges without affiliation to local schools. They hire them from an out of state judging panel and use retired Marshall faculty so as not to show any favoritism. I actually am a Marshall Alumni and didn't know any of the judges!!! Also, midland is not a "rich" band. We have a lot of boosters that work VERY hard to ensure the band has what they need to produce the shows people see. It's sad to me that you people at Princeton have to result to bashing because you didn't win. Of all the schools we compete against you people are the worst!! Your fans are rude and have said very mean things to our boosters and some of our kids. I would be ashamed to say I was from Princeton because you obviously need to learn about good sportsmanship. I have seen these kids work very hard to be as good as they are and prove that they can be the best because they want to be. You are teaching your kids bad habits by resulting to blaming someone of cheating simply because they were better. You should show them where they can improve and then help them to achieve a higher level, which is what we do at Cabell Midland!!! Take it, learn from it, and be better next time!!!

Dear Pikeview parent before you post you also should get your facts straight. Our show music was written by someone in FL and our drill was written by someone in NJ. Neither of those people were judges at Marshall. So please don't spread gossip about our band that is untrue.

First let me say I am a Pikeview parent with no connection to Princeton. I don't know what show you were watching but Princeton marched in many formations not only in straight lines! I happen to know that the one of the judges wrote Cabels field show, now is that fair?

Why are you on Princeton forums anyway? Get off. I am sure I can find bad things on your forums to complain about if I want to talk to you

Why are you getting on Princeton's forums just so you can say bad things about us. That is beyond the first amendment, that my friend, is harassment.

2 lies. For one, your location is charleston and if you lived here you would not give 2 sh!ts about Cabell. And secondly, BORING. OMG any person in this state that is not from ona, Wv would much rather watch a real band perform rather than a PROP band that buys their entire show. THE GRID sucks. Perform at Glenville with none of your shitty grids or other pointless props and we will see what happens. Pretty sure your guys GE

grade was almost exactly the same, and we did ours without props. So you either have bad taste, or are was mistaking Princetons field show with Cabell's when you say BORING...
Ok we will give up our props when you give up the Southern Exposure portion of your show. Twenty dollar bills were spontaneously combusting into one's as they gyrated around the field..

That's right. Judges are not impressed with Ms. Kade's vision or her band attempting level 6, I say sarcastically, and end up playing barely level 3. Put up or shut up and guess what? It is time for these posers to just shut up. Instead of paying for charter buses, they should buy a clue and a decent routine. Bunch of sore losers.

You started something you could not back up. Role model? Those people you call fans are slightly one step above roaches. Worst ever, especially that 400 pound man who made fun of every band there. So idiotic, shut up! Fix your own first!

I have read every post on here and all I can say is what a waste of time and energy. Both of these schools should be ashamed of how they have insulted one another and the directors and band members who obviously work very hard for their schools. Each band should be proud of every performance they give and walk away feeling like winners. That 15 seconds of fame you receive is nothing compared to the memories you have made being a member of a band that is so loved by your hometowns. Be proud and hold your heads high!!!

Well said and true. You should also hear the comments made in the stands. Horrible.

Once again Cabell Midland slammed the door on the competition. Everything done within the rules, totally neutral judges, neutral field and yes Grand Champions again. What is your excuse this time? Once in a blue moon you will win so learn to lose with a little dignity as well. Worst fans ever are from Princeton and on full display every competition. Extremely rude making comments about all the other bands. Poor, poor, poor sportsmanship. Thank God I am from anywhere but Princeton.

All of you, everyone of you, Midland and Princeton folks, should be absolutely ashamed of yourselves. Band isn't about trophies, it isn't about wins, or scores. It's about creating good people, teaching them to work hard and persevere. Both bands do great things, Princeton has a great ensemble sound, and Midland puts on a great show. These are kids you all are talking about. We all know how hard each group works, and saying that one group is cheating because the put certain instruments on the field is absurd. Everything both bands do is well within the rules.

If midland buys the music they put on the field, so what? I'm sure Princeton paid for the concert pieces that they play for their first and third number. Sure somebody wrote some extra things for it, as in the percussion part, but Midland does the same. Its how it works. You can't just rip off copyrited material and not expect to pay for it.

I can also say with absolute certainty that Midland's drum staff did not get the drum break straight from the Cavaliers, as one of you has previously stated. The idea, yes. But that happens all the time. Statements like that go to show how little musical knowledge the people who are posting this crap actually have.

Also, nobody buys judges, nobody has "hometown" judges. Most of the music educators in the state know eachother. Big freakin' deal. Do you know the people who work in your field? Yeah, I thought so.

Think about what you are teaching your kids by acting this way. Get over yourselves, grow up and be proud of they way your kids work, and the product that they produce. Idiots.

As a member of the band, this makes me sick. Whoever writes from Princeton needs some of their facts checked as well as the Cabell citizens. This is disgusting, you all know that Cabell has a bigger production, they are just like many bands in VA, and yes they beat us consistently because they have a staff that focuses on each section. CALL BS, but we have ONE staff. Mrs. Julia Kade. That's it, our drum major Layne is the closest thing to a staff member, that's it. We have no percussion instructors at all. Percussion music is written by the drumline , and a local alumni of Bluefield High wrote our percussion part for our grade 6 song, Ride. the drumline took his part and vamped it up. The music for when a man loves a woman was written by 2 basses, 1 snare, 1 tenor. That's it. For what we do on our own should be commended, but when a Cabell parent calls out our dance team "waving 20 dollars" etc, god strike you down for criticizing a YOUNG KID DOING WHAT WHAT THEY LOVE. We are all kids who do what we love to do, make music.. And we can only perform as hard as we can.. Yesterday we got beat, no surprise. Cabell parents, or students, whoever came on here to gloat needs there pulse checked. Your immaturity level is ridiculous and in comes off in your kids, last night, they ignored us when we TRIED to talk to them in Wendy's in flatwoods. Please, be a role model. And to the Princeton fellow members and parent, just quit it, that's embarrassing to see people writing and criticizing cabell's kids on a very amazing production. They have summer band, they have high school classes and they have high school drama, they shouldn't need band drama. I ask you all to cut it out, because you are all immature for criticizing any high school student. We are working. Cabell has a better program, and better resources. That's that. That's also a benefit of being 10 miles from a major d1 band. Princeton is an amazing effort because we have 1 instructor, and tons of band parents that work their butt off but do not know the difference between a flute and a clarinet. We try, so stop cutting us down for our completely original show. Cabell, you guys have an awesome show, it's great. That's that. Sure, it's not all original, but it's still their show. It can be unfair , but it's our job to make it a challenge to them . We are only kids so stop cutting is down, to both sides. I love band, but I hate drama, so cut it out. We only get 4 short short years if this.

Thank you! This is the most grown up and responsible comment on this thread. All of you "fans" need to STOP IT. This is the most ridiculious bunch of nonsense. Why keep goading each other and taking the joy out of this for the band members?
It doesn't matter who started it or anything else. Behave yourselves and be thankful you could be a part of this, no matter how small a part.
This is worse than "little league parents" and how they act at ballgames. I swear, this make me sick.
Let it go, count your blessings, support your children, leave the other school alone and get over whatever slights, real or imagined you think you have.
