I heard someone bought the old movie theater and having plans on turning it back to a movie theater again, I hope this happens because we need a movie theater back in Princeton and that way we don't have to go to the dirty run down movie theater that's at the mall.

Community Connections has an option to purchase the building and 6 months to raise $80,000 for the final purchase. Donations are coming in because so many people want the theater to reopen.

I used to go to the movies there all the time as a child and teenager. It was the old Lavon theater at the time. Would LOVE to see Princeton try to revitalize town again to even a fraction of what it used to be. Crack down on the hookers and drug dealers in this town, run them out on a rail, and clean this city up.

I have to agree with the above. I don't think this is a wise idea. Just look at Mercer Street. Everything down there is closed. The town invested in the bank building, and it is still sitting there empty. The town can't even get the fountain to work, much less come up with a plan to fix the street. It is a lost cause. I think also that if you look carefully at the names involved in this theater business, you'll find it's another front to benefit a few at the expense of many. Princeton doesn't have the resources for this. And, while everyone is wanting downtown to be full of businesses, you have to remember that most buildings are ready to cave in. Who wants to put a new business in one of those nasty buildings? Major structural damage, major electrical hazards, etc. We need a new slogan for Mercer Street: DO NOT RESUSITATE! Let the damn thing die already!

I believe the committee has good intentions with this project, and I like to see any effort that goes into revitalizing downtown Princeton. At least someone is concentrating on good thoughts for the town, instead of seeing only negative things that are there today and expecting them to be the same negative things 10-20 years from now. We all need to step up and be the change we want to see in the world. If you don't agree with what the committee is choosing to do, then at least stop bashing the idea, and just wait patiently to see what happens.

If Community Connections and CASE want downtown princeton to be revitalized, why don't they move their offices downtown?

I hope they do put a movie theater back in Princeton, if they do decide to fix up the old theater people better watch out for the hookers and the druggies bumming people for money, that's what kind of trash that's on Mercer St.
