Animal Control- Negligence

I felt it imperative to write on behalf of all pet owners. My cat was picked up by animal control on Dec 17th. He was wearing a collar, had a tag and is micro-chipped. One of the store owners in Kingston called Animal Control to have him removed from the premises.
Animal Control and the store owner did not read his tag, nor did Animal Control scan him for a micro chip. Animal Control brought him to Hellmetta pound where they did not read the tag or scan him.
Finally, this morning SB Animal Control returned my call from last week, to say he thinks he picked up my cat. Thankfully the Hellmetta pound was open on Christmas Eve.
PLEASE PLEASE if you do find an animal make sure you do what ever you can to contact their owner and make sure animal control does their job as well!! My cat could have been euthanized.
PS this is the second time this has happened ...and no I can not "make" him an indoor cat. Plus, if situation had been the same and it was a dog, I believe this would have gone down a bit differently.
Thank you please spread the word.
