Has anyone done this in town? I have heard a lot of department stores through out un-sold clearance items? Is there any truth to this?

Don't know about clearence items but sometimes you can come across bites of steak and baked potatoes out of the dumpsters out there at Majestic. A-1 sauce is hard to come by though.

Yes you can even get an appearance on a tv show when you fill your house full of coat hangers and plastic bowls. Be careful not to crack a rib while you reach for that aluminum can floating around in the bottom.

Pay attention here folks. This person talking about department stores not restaurants!! The malls to Walmart to the dollar stores all throw out new items that were on clearance that didn't sell in a certain period of time. Paducah radio station just did a segment on this. Many people are finding bags full of new name brand clothes that have been tossed out.

If it is posted, you can be charged with trespassing. I used to work at a supermarket 25 years ago. When I took the 2 day old bakery items outback, I wouldn't throw them in the dumpster like I was told because I didn't want them going to waste. I would put the cart outside for a few hours and then bring it back in once it was empty Eventually there were more than six cars waiting on me to wheel the cart out. They started fighting over the items. My boss found out and made me take them out at the end of my ship and dump bleach on them in the dumpster. I quit.

Think I will go to the Wal-Mart dumpster and get me and my lady a new out-fit and look for some candles so we can go have a candlelit steak dinner, with a house salad, at the Majestic's dumpster.

Dumpster diving is a very interesting topic....for a change. If you google it you will find out it is not illegal unless the dumpster is posted with a keep out sign or is fenced in with a lock. Otherwise it is not considered trespassing the store is open to the public, including the trash. Outdated items, broken or damaged goods may go to good use instead of the landfill. Why not let someone else make use of it? Some of the sites even direct you to some of the best stores to find stuff.

I agree. Anything that is put in the dumpster, (without locking lids, signs, or fences), or set out on the curb for trash pickup is free to the public. Anyone that wants to, including the trash truck driver, may go through whatever you put out there and is allowed to keep their findings. One man's trash is another man's treasure. True story.

It is disgusting that people would eat from a dumpster. If they feed that shitt to their kids they aught to be charged with endangerment. Lazy azzes need to get a job.

It ain't bad if you hide in the shawdows and grab it right after it's thrown out. Me and my lady don't have kids but if we did we would let them dine out of a dumpster with us. As for being lazy, if all these youngsters weren't out here getting knocked-up and making welfare babies, then the country wouldn't be so over-populated therefore, more jobs available.
