they need to bring mary atterholt back as she has done a terrific job for the city of hopewell. why would the redcross bring in a person with a bad track record to run the chapter. someone needs to ask some hard questions. this is so unfair to mary. i hope someone does the right thing.

you now have a person running your redcross with a very bad track record.. good luck getting any service and good luck getting the truth and a straight answer on why the only stable chapter has been compromised.i would have thought the press would have reported whats really going on by now. theres a real story there if someone looks hard enough.everyone working in the hopewell office has resigned after mary artterholt was let go and i think the board and fundrasing community will also leave.someone needs to take a look

We need more facts. Hopewell had a great Red Cross Group. They have done an outstanding job serving Hopewell and Prince George.

And they have maintained a good accounting of their funds and do not operate in the RED. I guess the big leaders of the Red Cross plan to use Hopewell money for Petersburg. Another big loss for
Hopewell.

you are right...another big loss for hopewell..hopewell was the only chapter running in the black and instead of putting the director from hopewell and get thefunding back on track in petersburg, they put the petersburg director incharge who has had a poor record the last several years, to try and hide her deficets.they now have lowered the bar and have all the chapters running in the red as hopewell will not support this director. how can upper management support such mismanagement.time to call foul and contact the red cross headquarters with such mismanagement there is so much more to the story. hope the press gets the real story. all they have to do is investigate.someone in washington has fell asleep at the wheel

well, the new director now has herself a new car to drive home every day. she promptley took the new red cross tahoe that was donated and to be used for disasters, and uses it for personal use. the former director never drove that car home ,it was kept in hopewell, and she was the person responsible for getting the grant to bring the car to the hopewell chapter. this is the difference between the new director, and the previous .the abuse will get worst as time goes. this is the beginning, and its a shame she gets away with it. she will probably say she is on red cross business, and again ,thats not what that car is to be used for. i hope the community of hopewell speaks out..you will see the best double talk, ever and damage control...it must be my lying eyes..

looks like ACE has some up close and personal experience - perhaps a former (now disgruntled) employee?
Does operating in the black just mean the budget (aka payroll) was met?
There have been rumblings about uncommunicative management, less than impressive leadership. So what happens next?

i am just a plain old volunteer.the hopewell chapter was financially stable to take care of local disasters and people who needed their services. all other chapters under the wing of richmond could not operate without help from dc.hopewell was very well run and the board was active and hard working. now the board chair and several other board members have resigned and the 3 paid employees in the hopewell office have resigned because of the placement of the petersburg director being put in charge.she has a track record of never meeting goals in 6 years ,she reports inflated numbers of volunteers, and uses grant money for unauthorized expedutures, like operating capital.when i was in the working world that would get you fired, but here it gets you a promotion with added responsibilty.looks like the tail waging the dog.. i believe there is even more to the story if someone would look. she will have hopewell looking just like petersbug soon... in the red

Well i dont know much about the matter but to me if you have a problem with something you would put your name out instead of talking negative on the internet. Man up and say what you got to say cause any little child can throw a temper tantrum on the computer I think you would fit in perfectly on Facebook. And i feel sorry for whoever "Ace" is because like you said your just plain and old so i guess it must be hard for you to make a living ...in the red

I am doing fine. by the way how is hillary?

Well I actually have looked at the facts and miss Andrews has already improved to red cross fund raising in her first couple months. If she continues what she is doing then she can have the red cross money at an all time high!!!

anyone looking at the facts will see that 75% of funding has been lost..this includes the united way,and other local funding and grants.there won't be a red cross office in hopewell as the funding will not be there to support it.for that matter the footprint of the red cross may disappear totally if upper management doesnt start looking at the operation in the area.when the money stops, that will get their attention and relationships that took years to build with companys that give grants ,will spend with other non profits.talk to the local board or the local disater manager in hopewell and you will get the story...

ACE, Hopewell was the perfect functioning Red Cross office. Not on your life. Implore us to investigate but have you checked with upper Red Cross management. Amazed that you can be so close to an office and think that you know what is going on. You do not even know what was going on right under your nose.

i beg to differ...hopewell was a very well run red cross.and i beg someone with some objectivity to investigate why the former director was let go, and why someone with the track record of never meeting goals, and that has been less than truthful, not only to her direct boss, but to corporate, has been put in charge.i wont repete why hopewell was well run,but it appears people at the top are asleep at the wheel.and i think there will be more to come. the services in hopewell have already been compromised and they are now keeping a office in petersburg, when a few days ago they were closing.its the best double talk i have ever heard..check it out...kind regards to all
