Amen, New Meat! It's about time that our town shows the world that there are actually intelligent normal people living here, not just a bunch of goobers. Taylor and Silvestro, as well as a few of the incumbents, need to be voted down.

Just a friendly reminder. If you elect unethical, immoral and corrupt people to office then you will get unethical, immoral and corrupt people appointed to key positions.

Don't just vote for someone because they are popular. You are voting for the whole person not just who they may know.

New Meat-Billy Bob you both are so right Taylor and Silvestro and not just a few incumbents but ALL of them to go. The problem is those citizens that live in Hopewell that are not corrupt, are ethical and have morals will not run for any position in this City. Hopewell has such a horrible reputation that no decent person would touch anything in this City with a ten foot pole.

That being said we the citizens of Hopewell need to find and seek these people out to run for elected office to clean the corruption and the good ol boy system out.

From what I see we have a drunk for a Sheriff, a Mayor that apparently can not handle her personal finances let alone the Cities. A Vice Mayor who can not clean up his own yard let alone the City. His claim to fame is he is a Reserve Deputy for a drunken Sheriff. A council member whose claim to fame is I walked with Reverend Martin Luther King. A council member that is unwilling to fix her blighted building downtown while forcing those living in her Ward to clean up their property. A council member that is a Deputy for a drunken Sheriff. I do not know much about the rest of City Council to make any comments on.

Just remember, whomever you vote into office reflects and represents this city to the rest of the world. If you are happy with being represented as a backward, good ol boy, unethical, immoral, and corrupt citizenry then keep voting the status quo.

I think that those of you who are posting should run yourselves and stop hiding behind the computer screen. Regardless of who you vote for you should stand behind them one way or the other. If you agree with an issue regardless, come out to Council meetings and Ward meetings and hold these people accountable.

That is your right as an American Citizen and certainly a citizen of Hopewell. How can you criticize so many people for even considering representing the City if you as a people don't go to the meetings and voice your opinions.

You sound pretty intelligent, but not attending meetings, writing letters, or comment on issues that effect our Government.. and local government is not so "intelligent."

ask the dr the problem is that there are to few to speak to, they get voted down by the good ole boy pawns on a regular basis. as long as they have the majority of upper offices sewn up the people trying to make things better cant succeed. the good ole boys do not let anything happen unless they proffit. the first real blow to the system was sylvester being voted out. keep it up hopewell VOTE EMERSON, SHORNAK, EDWARDS, RANDOLPH

Info, what is your real motive? From the sounds of it you feel like you have been looked over maybe for a job you feel like you deserve, or a position you think you should be in? Just curious, again, you throw out the good ole boys comment without really explaining what makes them so bad. What effect have the current councilers had on your life? Your'e bitter about something, just curious as to what it is, and, I'm not sure that personal grievances against an employer by an individual necessarily make the current leaders bad, just means you are somehow on the outs. Where am I wrong?

Its easier to voice my opinion Here and remain anonymous, and it is easy to criticize here ever heard of freedom of the press; and didn't Ben Franklin write under a pseudonym as well as other of our founding Fathers: to hide his (their) true identity(ies)? So I submit this is a perfect forum to use as a sound board and voice opinions and criticize it is getting someone's attention. You are obviously reading it thanks.
