See that the restaurant closed---what happened? They seemed to be doing a pretty good business and heard catering was doing well also.

It closed just like alot of other Hopewell places closed. The city council and management are running everyone out of downtown. Who would want to be next to a closed down ethanol plant. But don't worry, the "Main Street Program" will save downtown. Yeah right,Ha Ha Ha------SUCKERS.

I saw a legal notice for a liquor license for that address. Apparently someone is opening another restaurant there.

Great people, great prices, great food. Downtown Hopewell sucks and always will. Nothing to draw people down there at night. Not enough lunch business to make it work and people don't like going downtown after dark

No worse than Petersburg, or Richmond. All the lowlife sukkas that can't pull their pants up or speak English cause all the problems.

Haters? Doubt it. If being part of the elite group makes you so happy, guess you will fit right in with the other (over 40) losers. Now everyone will know where to find all the old coke heads in the 'well on any night of the week.

curious, I was with you 'til you went off on "over 40" losers. Your young azz wouldn't be here without us old folks. Plus, we over 40 crowd are not the "elite" of this world. We are the ones who worked our azzes off to give you brats a life. You can either work with us, or against us( and there are a whole lot more of US than you.

To add to VN Vet's comments -- if the new establishment does cater to the "Over 40" crowd, at least they will all have their pants pulled up around their waists, not about to fall off their butts, and have their hats on straight.

My comment was not against anybody over 40 (i'm pretty close to it myself) I was just saying that there is this crowd, over 40, who like to hang out in all the local bars and act as if they were in their twenties, drugging and drinking! And no I am not a hater, if i wanted to be part of that sort of thing i would, but chose to be a productive citizen in this city where I have been the most part of my life. These "elite" people know who they are and plan to use the new establishment to their advantage. Just watch and wait, everybody's true colors will eventually come out and there will be many who will be shocked to find out what type of lifestyle these people have at night while putting up a front during the day at their jobs.

I stand corrected. Most of us "old farts" have high hopes for our youth, we just wish that they would start thinking about things other than themselves at an earlier age( not all are selfish, just most). There are a few old fogies who will never grow up, and they are very sad. The "elite" or "GOBs" as I prefer, think they know what is best for the "great unwashed"(us). Screw them and the horse they road in on. Curious, you hang in there. We can take our town, state, country, etc. back from these clowns if we all stick together. My kids are your age, and my grandkids can vote, and they feel like you and me. There is hope, hang in there.

If you wanted to eat lunch there on Sunday after Church you had to have a reservation unless you wanted to wit 45 minutes to be seated.

The back dining room was decorated very nicely.
Food was great!
Decor was lovely!
Prices were reasonable for quality of food.

Then things changed:

They started closing off the back dining room and making everyone eat in the front most dining area.

No table cloths, hard unpadded chairs, atmosphere was boring at best. Prices went up.

Crowds started dropping off. People wanted a place in Hopewell that had a little atmosphere and they stopped that. It was like eating in a school cafeteria.

If you have run a restaurant and have so much business that you have to turn people away and then 12 months later your bankrupt you can know 1 simple fact; the problem is management.

IMHO

I am in agreement with observation about the management! Everyone in town knew how busy Mim's was and at the holidays you would see their crew at all of the events in town. I heard that the owners had no money sense and then blamed the failing economy on their shortcomings.
