I have heard many things from City Council not wanting it to the owners of the properties not wanting to sell or wanting too much.
Getting tired of going to Colonial Heights.

Bowling alley owners want pure platinum for thier junkpile of a bowling (crack) alley.

Who needs the tax revenue anyways? Just bring in more section 8 druggies, barb wire around the town and annex it to the prison.

Supply and demand has always been the same. They have a larger supply, larger variety, Lower price due to that. I have always supported the idea of local business, small business, BUT why pay $4.99 for a box of cereal when you can get it for $2.79 ?? UNLESS you are in the upper 10% and it just doesn't matter? Much of the population just can't afford it.

Walmart couldn't hurt the stores in downtown Hopewell, they don't sell anything anyone wants anyway. Hell, you can't even buy ethanol from the wonderful ethanol plant.

Thanks(I think). Truth is, a certain few wealthy land-lords who own the crappy rental property and other buildings in Hopewell, don't want the city to improve. They control the power now, and don't want to give it up. They own rental crap that can't go section 8. Under section 8, the property HAS to be kept up to higher standards. The GOBs don't want to put that kind of money into their mess.

I guess they are missing the point of what a Council Person should do. They are elected by the people to better the city.....Which is not happening.
