i'm glad this case is still being read as randy worked for people all over the tri- cities area. everyone knew him as a loving nice person who read his bible and always tried to help people in need. he would never ever do any thing like this. he was at that trailer because the girl had cancer and had just been told it had come back and he was trying to help her get ready for another round of chemo. hope they find the real truth soon.

Try not to forget...everyone has a skeleton or two in the closet. You will never know what people keep hidden inside their little worlds. Stop being surprised at the capabilities of humans. Even your closest friends and/or relatives have things socked away they don't want you to know. I stopped being blindsided once I realized NOTHING is too outlandish. I am never really truly dumbfounded anymore. Sad, I know.

Sounds like someone needs to file a complaint with the Virginia Bar Association for unethical behavior on the part of this Commonwealth Attorney.

This article and the past article both seem to have alot of rumors that try to replace the facts. If all the rumors were true don't you think the case would still be open. It seems very one sided by one of the families involved. Just to clear one comment up, Randy was in the trailer because he was Valerie's boyfriend. I also agree with one of the previous comments; there are things that go on behind closed doors that the outside world never sees. I believe that both Randy and Valerie were very nice, loving, and caring people. It just proves that drugs and alcohol can make people do terrible things.

no in this corrupt town the case would not be open and i know you know all the facts. you don't seem to get the fact that drugs and alcohol were not found in the victims. you feel guilty because you are not the sheltered little wife you want your husband and daughters to believe!!! the things that go on behind closed doors started at your house. the truth is very near and i know you are scared!!!

Well "kenny", I guess you don't know your facts. I don't know who you think I am but I am not her! It is a fact that drugs and alcohol were found in both victims. There are probably alot of things corrupt in this town but I am not sure why this tragic event is so shocking.

The truth of the matter is, to this day there is no evidence linking these two bodies, that's a fact. That in itself is enough to disprove the murder-suicide theory. Know your facts before labeling what is and isn't just a rumor. Nothing in this article is a rumor, it's all fact. The case was closed with no evidence to support what was said. That's why they won't release the information under the FOIA request.

i would like to know how you got the facts about drugs and alcohol because that info is for the families only and the family is fighting to get the info released to prove what really happened

A fact does not come from a citizen's mouth. A fact would be something that can be proved by testing. This article mentions that the towels found in the dryer had DNA from a third person, that was said by a person not the police. The police only have said it was Valerie's blood. They never said it was a third person. That is what makes statements in this article and past articles rumors.

So only rumors come from a citizen's mouth? The Police Chief is a citizen right? The detectives are citizens? Who isn't a citizen? What magical creature is not a citizen somewhere?

How do you know they never said it was a third person's DNA? Did you even read the article? Were you in the meetings? Did you attend the lie detector tests? Do tell.

If no information has been released, then where is the information coming from that are in the articles and comments? The only reason I made a comment was to respond to some things in the article and comments that I know are false. I also wanted to express my opinion on what can happen to good people when drugs become involved. I wish peace and, hopefully one day, closure to all the families and friends involved. I also want to express to anyone who reads the articles and comments to please take in consideration alot of what is said may not be true and could be coming from emotions and denail.

the whole point of the article is just that the police won't release the documents to the family showing the evidence and the dna results the detectives already said the blood on the towels was third party but then tried to change the story to it wasn't but the medical examiner proved randy did not kill valerie so it is more than denial or emotions. i'd like to know if u would say that if it was ur family.

Nicole,
You seem to be quite familiar with what people are saying about this case. It's a shame you haven't actually spoken to the family members to get your sources corrected. Even though the actual files have not been released to the family, the family members have met several times with detectives, police chief, commonwealth atty. to get the "facts" straight from the source. Unfortunately, the "facts" from these sources have not remained constant, and the so-called facts have changed. The detectives and commonwealth atty. can't keep their "facts" straight so the family wants to review the case file for themselves.

I have read both forums on the topic of Randy and Valerie. I understand so many citizens believe their is corruption within the city's higher archy. However in the two forums what I find most disturbing are the lies, blaming, critizism and rumours. I have read so many RUMOURS that people want to call the truth. How many of those persons stating the so called "facts" were in that trailer that morning? How many people were there when the bodies were discovered? I understand that no one wants to believe that a person could do something so terrible. I know the families involved want and deserve answers along with closure, but what is all the bashing of city officials, detectives, citizens, people or family members doing to help bring answers and/or closer.

of this case for the families and others close to the victims. I truly understand that there are so many people who do not believe that Randy was capable of doing this to anyone. It is so much easier to get angry at the person or people who called it a murder/suicide. I believe that due to the tremendous hurt the families have regarding this tragic event, the manner in which the investigation was conducted and notification of the evidence that the families are searching for what they feel is a more reasonable explanation. If an objective third party came in and reviewed all evidence and came to the same conclusion as the Hopewell Police would the families then call that person corrupt, because the answer their heart needs is not the answer they get. In the first forum people threw around names and “allegations” or “rumors” about so many people: Toni, Shannon, Patsy, Vince, Rusty, Tracey. I believe these people have now become the victims as not only do they have to cope with the deaths of a mother, a father, family member, or friend, but now people are starting rumors that are pointing fingers at them as if they were involved.

god will be the ultimate judge here because u see randy was a child of god and anyone who harms a child of god will face the most severe of punishment. the family simply wants info that the commonwealth won't release. also all the comments u have read are in the police records u may want to check them out they r FACTS! RANDY and VALERIE are the only victims in this case.

You said God will be the judge if you truly believe that then do you condone comments made on here that point fingers at others, that make allegations, that tell of others personal business, and start vicious rumors?
Also, are you saying Toni climbed in and out of the trailer two times, Toni stayed in the trailer an hour before calling the police, and that Vince did not stay at the crime scene "as told by the police". These are all facts stated in the police report? Not part of this crime but what about the comment made in this forum that Shannon left town because she knew something about Doc's murder. Is this a fact too? If they are not facts then they are rumors and therefore making these people victims due to defamation of character. I would like to add that Valerie, a victim in this, was a child of God and is in heaven with her Father and Maker.
