Well well. The Beacon Theatre with it's 650 seats was completely sold out last night taking in $29,250 in ticket sales and the performers received $7000.
Where is all the positive chatter?

Well it took over 30 years, untold millions of dollars, countless shady deals and kickbacks to finally have a show with a net profit of under 20k.I am glad that it is now open. It will take 10 years to pay for itself if constantly booked

It doesn’t need to pay for itself.
It is a vehicle in which to draw attention and interest to the City of Hopewell.
But…….. if it does pay for itself in 10 years that 20 years shorter than your average home mortgage.
It requires vision to think like that.

I have plenty of Vision. Unfortunately so do our leaders with little follow thru. How much has been spent replacing sidewalks and tree's downtown??? Downtown will remain dead until people feel SAFE!! That will not happen until all of the PROJECTS and derelict people who live there have been removed. I ate lunch downtown today and walked to Dollar General, I got asked for money twice and watched a drug deal happen right in front of me by that corner store. This in the daytime in crappy weather,it is much worse in good weather!! Do we want our Mom's, Sister's, Daughters etc down there? I think not....
There is much more vision WITH follow thru needed, to benefit all and not a chosen few

The show was great, only too loud. Lets give it a chance. You are right, downtown HAS to cleaned up.

Hopewell is only as bad as the people allow it to be. If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.

Looks like Hopewell can shut down the ticket writing on 295.
They have a new cash cow. The Beacon.
Next election remember who voted against it.
