I didn't get to sleep until midnight, thanks to the neighborhood morons. Around 10 in the evening, a barrage of firecrackers awoke me as I drifted off to sleep. It happens every year, and each year it's done by the same group of disrespectful people. You can call the police, and maybe they will send a cruiser to warn them, but the police can't stop everyone. Another douche a few blocks away will send up a few exploding bottle rockets.
I don't have a problem with fireworks, but I do when it's late and I have to get up at 5:30 the next morning. It's disrespectful.

My sympathies. I sustain the same nonsense locally as well.

However, it ~is~ an exceedingly small travail, when considering the sacrifices which the Founders undertook that we might have the room to complain about one of life's smaller grievances.

And this isn't to make light of the matter, but only to point out that had said Founders not stood tall, firm, fast and ready, we —very likely— would not be having this discussion.
