Has anyone ever heard of the cell phones with unlimited minutes that can be obtained through the food stamp office for $26.00 a month?

I dunno about the unlimited minutes part. But I know for a fact that those who are "less fortunate" (where's the gawddam puke smiley when you need it?!) are getting cell phones for a reduced rate.
I stopped into Appalachian Wireless the other day to pay my bill and there was a line from hell in there...and the building smelled like cheese and ass.
One b!tch was giving the sales girl (God bless her heart!) the 3rd degree about the features!

Apparently cellphones are considered a "necessity" now.

This is what a commie .gov gets you. It'll only get worse, pretty soon we'll be buying their sorry asses computers, DVD players, LCD TVs, HDTV and God knows what else.

Just one more reason for the lazy to remain dependent on the government--which of course, we all know that the Libtards love.

The cell phones are not obtained through the Food Stamp Office. The only thing the Food Stamp office does is verify they are a recipient of Food Stamps, SSI, Medicaid, LIHEAP or Low Income Housing. These "phones" are available through every phone company in every state. It is called the LINK UP program. It was intended for low income people to have a home phone in case of emergency. But as you see it has turned into a fiasco. While the program was started with good intentions it has quickly become just another joke. If you notice on your telephone bill, they are charging you a "fee" each month that goes towards paying for this program.

I got a friend that has a cell phone threw app. and he only pay like 30-40 a month for unlimited in the area of 606 and like 60 minutes out of the area. All the foodstamp office does is verify your income.

A communist government causes this? I'd be more inclined to blame it on a capitalistic government and American culture. Stop spouting off about stuff you have little knowledge of.

Check the Appalachian Wireless website. Unlimited for surrounding counties is $49.99. Receiving foodstamps gets you a phone, unlimited minutes and a $26.00 per month bill.

This is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard of. The minute you get a job is the minute you throw away ever getting help from the government. Someone who gets out and works there butt off to barly get by is screwed. However, if you choose to be a low life and never work a day in your life you have got it made. You will get everything handed to you!

You are an idiot. This is a good program! It isn't just for cell phones either. Plus you have to meet certain qualifications: you cannot have any other phone in your name, and you have to get foodstamps, SSI, Medicaid, low income housing, heating assistance, etc.
This program has good intentions. It's meant for those who are unable to get a home phone. Realistically- everyone needs a phone these days. And I have no problem being taxed to help out those who need it.
You people are always "poor me". Get over it. Some people need help, and others don't. I bet my last dollar though, 90% of you receive some sort of government assistance. So step off your damn high horse and quit acting like you're better than those who're less fortunate. WHEN YOU ARE THE LESS FORTUNATE. Poverty and very low wages are part of our area. Don't act like you all have a 6 figure salary and piss on those who don't.
I get so sick of hearing about the welfare and other stuff. Don't like it. DO SOMETHING about it. Talking on Topix won't help.

... Thank U soooo much... I am completely humiliated 2 ever have 2 say I am disabled, just b/c of the other ppl on here bitching about it & acting like all of the disabled ppl r liars & idiots... I did not ask 2 b this way, u can believe that!! I would much rather b a normal, healthy person. I am so grateful that "CURIOUS" took up 4 people that r less fortunate, like myself. I really think there will b a special reward from "GOD" 4 " CURIOUS" b/c the BIBLE says, " When you help the least of them, you are helping JESUS." And most of u on here definitely think the disabled r scum & hold very little value as Humans. Thanks Again Curious.

I totally agree with CURIOUS. You all should be ashamed for making disabled ppl feel worse than they
already do. Does that make you all feel better about
yourself? I would watch what I said, cause it might just come back and bite you on the azz! You might have a child that ends up disabled or something!

I agree with bonnie curious and I agree. I really liked what Curious said. No one should feel ashamed because of being disabled. Everyone has a time in their life that they must ask for help. Like my grandfather said,"Never laugh at somoen else, it could happen to you."
You know all these snotty people who have such ugly comments, are probably minimum wagers which means that at tax time they are more than willing to accept their own little bit of government money. Its called Earned Income Credit.
Oh well, why bother arguing with devils...they will never listen.

Who says you have to have a six figure salary to be sick of getting raped for people who are too lazy to work?
All I see from you are more libtard talking points and emotion laced mumbo jumbo.

And I do everything an American citizen can: I vote, I write my congressmen and I try to keep abreast of the goings-on. I don't have any .gov assistance and I try to stay below my means, even it means shopping at Goodwill. I couldn't afford a cell phone for a great many years and guess what...I didn't own one. I worked my way through college and saved and raked where I could, I didn't feel "entitled" to anything.

So take your appologetic ass to the nearest soup kitchen, then go get yourself a free cellphone.

Who the hell insulted people who are genuinely disabled?

I believe I said my problem was with people who are too lazy to work--of which there are far outnumber those who are genuinely disabled.

You are aware the that federal government was not formed to help the disabled, right? That the founding fathers believed we should rely on our friends, family and community for support (which is where the strength of America used to lie)?

Who am I kidding, this Eastern Kentucky. We believe the government is supposed to come in and wipe our butts for us these days. I wish this state would get back some of its guts.

And would the disabled be relying on the likes of you,"Fun with Chaos?" I believe they would all starve to death. You are probably some smart-azz
know-it-all, that nobody wants to be around. Believe me, you only impress your-self!

Definitely a smart ass.

And yes, sometimes I do amaze myself.

Are we talking disabled people, or "disabled" people? I happily donate to the Shriners everytime I see them. I give to the DAV. And I give a lot of stuff to Goodwill and charities.
I donate food to food drives. I've even offered my time to Habitat for Humanity.
I cut quite a few elderly person's grass when I was younger for no pay, just to help out.

You see, the difference between you and I is that I understood what Jesus meant when he said: "Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. But, teach a man to fish and he will feed himself for the rest of his life."
There is a difference between keeping people down through hand outs and enabling someone to better take care of himself. There is also a difference between being your brother's keeper and playing a Patsy.

You can always tell the difference between someone who is genuinely unable to make their own way in this world and someone who is just a greedy piece of filth--it's in the size of the handout. Someone who is genuinely hurt will be reluctant to take a handout and will look for a way to work until there is no option (with certain exceptions of course), someone who is just too lazy to work will beat someone over the head to take the handout and laugh the whole way to the bank.

There are two kinds of disabled people: people who are genuinely disabled and people who are liars. I believe the community: churches and other organizations, citizens, etc... do have a civic duty to help those who are unable to care for themselves. But don't ever try to fool me with the words "less fortunate" (a liberal invention to do nothing but keep a culture of people subservient to the Government). There is no such thing. We shape our own fortunes in this country.

The difference is in the principle.

But you can feel free to think I'm a heartless b@stard.
