John K Jail Sentence

If this was John K's first DUI, his sentence seems harsh. I don't for a minute condone what he did, endangering others lives. I am not an attorney, and the law may allow up to thirty days for first DUI offense. But, I have never heard of anyone serving four days for first offense and license suspended for three months. I thought first offense carried, in most cases, up to $1,000 fine and license suspended for thirty days plus the night they spend in jail when arrested. If this was his first offense, I hope Pike County Jailer let's him (with someone picking him up) slip out at dust and back at day break. Also, why Pike County Jail is another big question that needs answering.

it is not harsh enough he was almost 3 times the legal limit he should have to spend his time in the jail where he was arrested and have to take the dui classes

I think he got what he deserves. As a police officer, they are held to higher standards. I am glad that the judge set what he did for him. And why would you hope he slips out at night?

He plead guilty to the DUI. I'd say it was an agreement between his attorney and the Powell County prosecutor.

Four days in jail is not near enough punishment for an elected official such as a Sheriff who is sworn to protect and serve. No doubt this is his first time actually getting it stuk to him but not the first time DRIVING DRUNK. He could have been stopped by plowing into a family and killing them. I think he should have to step down from his elected job as Sheriff of Floyd County. People like him make a mockery of elected offices.
