When you look at the new budget which considers an increase in property taxes to fund the budget for the CYFD, one needs to ask why paramedic students in May of 2012 were being paid as medics even though finals for class weren't given until December of 2012. Furthermore, one particular fireman paramedic student still has not passed his National Registry exam after 2 attempts and nearly 6 months post-school finals. Is he still being paid as a medic?????? If so, how is this possible while the CYFD tries to continue to raise taxes? Someone needs to look at the pay scale of firemen at CYFD vs PFD vs CVFD. Are they really that much better? I have a tremendous respect for all firefighters, but why should PV property taxes pay medic wages for firefighters who are not paramedics?
